10 things we learned in early week 1 NFL

1. No one will feel sorry for the Colts. Long, long season.

2. Tony Romo still Tony Romo

3. Do the Chargers make everything difficult?

4. Cam Newton is next superstar.

5. Yes, the Super Bowl loser does letdown in week 1.

6. Ryan Firzpatrick might be real deal.

7. Kansas City was a one year wonder.

8. Detroit really might be a playoff team.

9. Cleveland will always be Cleveland.

10. Overs were money in week one.

3 kickoff returns for TD's so far, did we overreact at the move to the kickoff move?

4. Lets wait and see until we see him play a defense that can well play defense. There is going to be alot of money made in playing overs with this Cardinals team I believe. They have been shitty in pass defense for the past couple of years and don't see anything different after yesterday. Wasn't like Newton was putting it into tight coverage, he had 2 guys open all friggen day and I mean open by 5-10 yards at times.

6. AND
7. Big Bills fan, but this yesterday was more of #7 being true than anything else. Bills and Fitz may look good once again this week against the Raiders but Fitz is still Fitz, he will have some good games and some games where he will look like he hasn't played football before. As for the Chiefs, well not much to say other than this is going to be a long season IMO

8. Again lets see them play a team with a semblance of an offense. When the Bucs went to a hurry up offense they were pretty much able to pick apart this Lions secondary. Great front four for the Lions but secondary is still a major problem for this team. Also until Stafford can show he can play 16 games without getting hurt then maybe.

Gerk - I think so

Cpt - yeah understood and he'll have bad games but fact is, people waiting for him to fail and a lot of first year QB wouldn't have done what he did in first game with no defense on the field.

The guy is going to be top 3 quarterback in league within 5 years barring injury.

Idk Kirk, I didn't get to watch the game yesterday, my son had his game at the same time as the Bills, and was keeping myself updated through my phone. I mean, it's not like the Bills won or lost 13 - 10 like last season against the Chiefs and we say "same old, same old" of the Bills. 41 - 7 is a very impressive win and I want to see how we match up now against New England, the Jets and our arch-enemy, the "Squish the Fish" crew down in Miami. Remember last season, we lost 4 games by field goals against playoff teams - Chiefs, Bears, Ravens, and Steelers! And unlike old regimes, the Bills in their second year would still play like the year before, I think this time we will be heading in the right direction. I think Fitzpatrick will be a top 10 QB at the end of the year!

The Chiefs losing their home opener in a blowout to the Bills says more about the Chiefs being bad than Fitzpatrick being good. He will continue to struggle with inconsistency - same for the Chiefs.

Cam Newton looked just ok. The Cards secondary is awful with DRC going to the Eagles, and their other CB Toler out for the season with an injury. That left a talented, but raw, rookie and a back-up at corner. Then there's Adrian Wilson at safety who plays the run well, but plays the pass like a blind guy.

About #1 - that game showed just how valuable Manning is as a QB. The team fell apart in all phases without him.

Cam Newton looked great in week one, but looking forward to seeing him against a better defense than Arizona.

Cam Newton looked just OK? Come on dude! Im not a huge Newton fan, but he was great yesterday. I dont care who he played, he completed 65% and threw for 422 yards in his 1st ever game on the ROAD!! Give credit where it is due. Yes he probably held onto the ball too long a couple times but he played very good, much better than OK!

Manning is very valuable but even he would not have helped them yesterday. that team was on teh decline even without him. The Oline and defense have serious issues and they were exploited yesterday. Collins was just OK but was not the reason they lost. Manning does not make up for being down 34-0 at halftime.

#11 Chargers special teams still sucks except for Scifers.

I think the Bills winning had more to do with their Defense giving fitzpatrick good field position. funbles, INTs, 3 and out. Knowing Casell was hurt, they stuck to stopping the run and letting him try and throw. 274yrds rushing last year. 108 this year. Bills D has improved

yes and no?

yes because we had 3 ret TDs.

no because I think special teams suffers just as much from rust of lockout

and really no because I saw so many touchbacks, I was taking bathroom breaks after every scoring play because I knew I wouldn't miss anything (consider 3 returns v. a gaaaagillion touchbacks lol)
