Had better personnel on his old team. Stanford 23-Sanfran 20.

Usually when teams change coaches they go with someone who is opposite of the previous coach. Interesting that they went with another looney asswipe like Harbaugh. I wonder how long before the players tire of his ass. Will he do what he did when he was at SD? Ban players from the bars, then go to the bars in the city and act like an ass when he found them? Probably wouldn't work in the NFL.

Am I the only one that thinks Harbaugh is the most overrated choice in years. This guy was a sub-.500 coach at a Pac-10 school until he went 12-1 with what is considered "the best college QB ever" (2011 version).

I love my niners, but the front office is dumber than a boxful of hammers.

Other then the QB issues, I do like the San Fran team. I believe they have good defensive players, good RBs, a great TE, a good WR in Crabtree & a good o-line.

The deciding factor for me is who they get to play Quarterback, as good ones don't grow on trees. I am interested in seeing who Harbaugh gets as his QB through either a trade, FA signing or dare I say the draft?

sub .500 yes, but took over a team that was 1-11 with basically zero talent. Also increased Stanford's win totals in each of his 4 seasons. 4, 5, 8, 12 (that being Stanford's highest win total EVER with a point differential of 298!!). Let's not forget, you actually have to be smart to go to Stanford. Ivy League type of academic requirements and they won't take Juco players. It's not Auburn. Not easy to win with those restrictions.

I'm not saying he is gonna put SF in the Super Bowl tomorrow, but guy has had success at every level of coaching. Hopefully he does well...if not, nothing new in SF lately. 49ers get this guy for less than Michigan and Miami offered him. He's played in the NFL, been a position coach in the NFL, and has a brother who has had success in the NFL. If any college coach can make the jump...it's this guy.

Then again, this could all be homer talk

FYI...that wasn't a knock on Auburn...just football schools in general. Not like it's all that hard to get into the University of Oregon either. Just making the point its not a football school, and dude owned it....along with VT...lol

This is a very interesting move for the 49ers. Wonder who they will get for a QB. This would have been the perfect year for Luck to come out. His timing on saying he was staying in school makes sense. He wanted to say he was coming back even though the coach was leaving. I look forward to his first 3 years. Speaks volumes about a coach.

He'll be back in college in 3 years. I'd be surprised if the Niners win 8 games next year. Niners don't have a QB and the number of available options aren't exactly plentiful. Also with Gore coming back off a major injury the running game won't be strong. Westbrook is no spring chicken. Uphill battle for the Niners...
