7 weeks in and I still don't have a clue

I'm 46 and have been watching NFL since high school. It seems to me that the quality of play has taken quite a drop in recent times. Sure the players are stronger and faster then in years back but to me it seems they just don't care anymore. I can't quite put my finger on it but I've seen some very shitty football so far this year.

For instance, Green Bay and Washington play to an overtime game a few weeks back and the Skins won it. But really, if you had watched the game you really couldn't say they won as much as you could say the Packers lost it. I'm mean they looked so bad in that last quarter all around from play selection to execution that even they had delibriately tried to lose that game they would not have looked so bad. And this from a team that was leading the league in offense after three weeks and a Washington team that had no running game whatsoever. Just Macnabb throwing blind darts and trying not to chuck his cookies and the same time.

I saw a Bills team averaging 250 yards of offence in five weeks go to Baltimore and double there average against the volted Raven defense and almost win the freaking game!

I saw the Falcons outscore the Bengals 17-0 in the second quarter only to see the Bengals outscore them 22-0 in the third quarter. I can not remember ever seeing an NFL game swing like this.

In week four the Chargers only threw it 20 times for 250 yards and racked up 41 points against the Cardinals. But next week the superbowl champs can only muster 20 points against them but what's more inexplicable is that there are down 10 points with seven minutes left and the couch calls for two running plays (that result in zero yardage) and their backs are injured? Throw the freaking ball!

Last weekend I saw Oakland go to Denver and embarass the Broncos 59-14. It was 38-0 before Denver scored. What was interesting was to see the players faces on the bench. For the most part, they didn't give a flying f*** that they biggest rivals are in their house and cleaning thier clocks. I don't remember ever watching a Denver team that would lay down like that or let something like that happen. No freaking way.

Awayway, just venting but it looks like maybe 4 or five teams are better than the average and the rest play like the RAMS and BUCS and LIONS of the last three years and I mean every other team is like that. Just freaking shitty football to watch for sure. It's not parody either it's just plain shit. I'll bet Alabama could beat half these Pro teams.

I think "parody" would be more accurate, according to SUPERSY8's writeup.

My poor grammer and spelling aside, seriously I'm on a terrible streak in NFL capping.

I'm in dead last place in the contest. 3-16-2!

I normally am over 50 %.

I don't know. With the lack of defence i've seen so for I just pick Overs from now on.

SUPER,
For the first time in over 15 years I have stopped posting plays. You can call it parity but I prefer to believe that this league is watered down and the QB play has never been more important then this season. Ex: Look at the Chargers, hands down the best team in the NFL and they can't win. The numbers say that they are the best team in the NFL and look at their record. Mistakes on NFL teams cost more today then they did before because of the lack of depth to make up for mistakes. I also believe that the the haves and have nots are due to coaching blunders. Many coaches in the NFL may as well just collect a check and go home. This may be the season that many coaches are kicked to the curb. We could hit a record number in the NFL. Best of luck to you

The Chargers are a good example of why the NFL is not what it use to be. They have outgained every team they played and are 2-5 because of a complete lack of professionalism and training. They played such a sloppy game last week that the fans deserved a refund. How does a reciever catch a 25 yard pass and them just drop to the ground untouched and leave a live football on the field? After all the crap they did in that game they can still send the game to OT with a 45 yard field goal but false start 5 yard penality and then they have to try a 50 yard boot that hits the upright!? I'm telling you skill has no bearing in this NFL. You just got to bet against the team that did the least amount of booze, coke and bitches the night before.

chargers are not clearly the best team at all, since when is football played irregardless of mental mistakes and special teams

Numbers don't lie. When you find a way to cap in Mental Mistakes you let me know. Special teams you can count as being bad but SD's #'s don't lie. Believe it or not sometimes the best team doesn't win. In SD's case this has been the case for most every game they have played this season. Sad part about their division is that they still have a chance to make the playoffs. Grab some SD wins the SB this season and thank me later.

My parlay for Sunday. If Reggie Bush rushes for a record 300 yards against the steel curtain and Brees torches their secondary for another 400 yards then I'm throwing in the towel and betting NBA.
