Any other Packer fans purchase shares today???

I did......purchased shares as soon as the sale started this morning. It doesn't increase in value and I won't get any dividends but I can say that I am one of many owners of the Green Bay Packers! I am looking forward to attending the shareholders meeting and having a vote that means something within the organization. The fact I can call myself an owner of a professional sports franchise is pretty cool.

Any others out there??

I was at a Sotheby's auction a couple of years ago and a original $5 share came up for sale and ended up selling for $5200. it was one of the first 100 shares issued. Pretty cool.

Heard the same thing. I heard he wants a vote at first shareholders meeting to make all GB QBs wear #4 each and every year. Easier for him to pleasure himself seeing #4 in the green and yellow.

What's funny is that this idea of asking for essentially a donation to run a business now has a term for it - it's called "crowdfunding." It's really a brilliant business model if you can find rabid fans to donate money in exchange for "owenership" and something that provides some type of exclusive benefit.

For the Packers you get to be an "owner" as evidenced by a piece of paer and go to a private meeting or three. Imagine how much lower this cost of capital is than a traditional form of financing.

Other area where this business is becomming popular are movies, the arts and even mom and pop type start-ups.

Yes, it's a brilliant marketing ploy as is their fan shop located at the stadium...That doesn't absolve their fans from being dopes.

Sure its not really ownership and only a way to raise capital

but Green Bay wouldnt be able to stay in Green Bay if not for this

I think this is the third time they have done this to raise capital, and each time the fans step up

Great observation. I didn't think of it that way, but essentially the Packers did their own version of what kickstarter.com (which is a brilliant site) does.
