Ben Rothlisberger

As a Steeler fan I was very ashamed when Ben took advantage of the two women. At the time because of my strong feelings about women I wanted him off the team. He stayed and to this date I have to believe that something got thru to Ben. He so far is a changed man and I really like what I see. The way he talks about other teams and his team mates is far different then the Ben I remember. I hope he keeps it up and stays on track. The jury may still be out but this kid has made a huge change and it really shows. Although its early I am slicing myself a piece of crow pie. I did not think the kid could make this change. Only taking one bit for now.

Its been interesting over the years to see how this forum has changed. I remember the early days when Steeler fan would get hammered over Ben issues. Now I see some of those same people taking notice. Time helps most everything.

This is closer to the truth.. Not a fav among players is what was leaking out.. In fact when he first started with the Steelers he used to eat by himself at summer camp or go back to his dorm to eat.. Then Hines took him aside and told him to start making more of an effort to blend in with his teammates and O-line.. You know he's not going out drinking anymore in the Burgh because if he was it would be local talk show fodder.. A young kid growing up all his life never hearing the word NO.. Then getting a boatload of money on top of that can be a bad thing for many and leads to maturity issues for many..IMO Ben has now seen the light and is channeling his efforts towards his job and changing his outlook.. Sort of liked a rich mans version of scared straight.. Getting engaged may be a good start.. To early to make a call but so far nothing but acolades from coaches and teammates.. Some people mature later then others ... Ben just might be at the tip of the iceberg as far as his football life is concerned.. Or he has a great PR advisor.. Saw a interview with him last year where he said he looked in the mirror and he did not recognize himself and it was time to get back to the basics of family and friends.. His dad quoted as saying it was nice to have his son back.. Either way a young kid making bad decisions is not breaking news it is if it continues..

If anyone ever wanted to make the argument that stats do not always tell the story of how good a player is, look at Ben Rothlisberger in big games. Just yesterday ...10 of 19 for 133 yds and 2 interceptions and a 30 something QB rating. But he was there making a big play every time the Steelers needed one. He extended plays that would have been over in the Jets previous 2 games vs Brady and Manning. In the 2005 Super Bowl, admittedly early in his career, he was 9 of 21 for 123 yds and 2 interceptions with a passer rating of 22 but the Steelers beat the Seahawks. In that game Ben converted 8 third downs including a 3rd and 28 to Hines Ward after which he scored on a QB sneak. Almost forgot....one week ago vs the Ravens he hits Brown for 58 yds on a 3rd and 19 with the scored tied at 24 and 2 minutes to go.

He has his off the field problems, but Ben is a winner who doesn't know the meaning of the word quit. Rodgers may be the better passer but when the chips are down I wouldn't bet against Big Ben. He always seems to find a way.

Not sure what your lol was about but this post could not be further from the truth. His team mates have been talking about the change in Ben and the reporters also can not believe how much more time he gives them. Its been talked about on the internet over the last 3 months. I guess you must have been laughing at yourself.
