In a way betting preseason is easier than betting regular season. First off in most instances coaches will actually tell you before the game even starts what they want to accomplish from that game and who and for how long certain players will play. Second certain coaches care about preseason and others don't. New coaches tend to give a damn about preseason games especially if they are with a team that has struggled for the past couple of years they want to put their stamp on the team early and usually take the games more serious while other coaches just want to get through them and start the season. I remember my Bills back when they were good, lol!! and going to 4 Super Bowls they were terrible in the preseason because Marv Levy could care less about preseason games. They were more of a necessary evil the way he looked at it.
Example of this is this years HOF game, you have a new coach in Jim Zorn going up against Tony Dungy who doesn't really care that much about preseason and for the most part the Colts under Dungy have played that way and produced results that way. In the motivation angle side you have a clear advantage with Zorn and the Skins on Sunday night, now that doesn't mean the Skins will win and cover although I hope they do since I have them, lol!! but situations like this usually do give you an added advantage to make some in preseason. Another angle that is usually pretty good to look at is teams that have QB depth, or battles for QB positions on the depth chart. If you can get a huge advantage after the starters come out at the QB position that usually is also a nice advantage to have when betting preseason games. Another nice angle for Week 2 of the preseason is to look positive on teams that got beat by more than 10 in Week 1 of the preseason, even coaches who usually don't care that much about preseason tend to not like having those type of results in the first preseason game and usually have their team a bit more motivated going into Week 2 especially if they are at home for that game. So there are many things that give you an advantage in preseason that you don't get in the regular season and that is why I continue to play preseason games and for the most part start off every NFL season already up profit wise from the preseason. Last year started the NFL season up $1500 and over the last few years I only remember being down one year and that was only slightly two years ago. Money can be made in preseason games if you can put the time in to gather the information needed to make the right decisions. |

The most legit pre season games you get are in week 3, the "dress rehearsal" week. There are a lot of pluses to look at. Teams who have a set starting lineup are going to play a lot of 2nd and 3rd stringers, while teams who may have QB battles or other such battles are going to play those players involved more often. The line is basically a crapshoot. Example, 12 home teams are favord by between 2 and 3 1/2 points during Week 1. Pretty average stuff there. Notice how people talk about Dungy not caring about pre-season games, and Indy being a 6 1/2 point dog, the biggest dog in Week 1?
The bad part about all of this is that you really do not know how good or bad the subs really are. That's the crap shoot. There are tons of systems, angles, trends, and other things that specifically are there for the pre season. I prefer to wait because the pre season simply does not interest me, but that is my choice.

Information is in great abundance for preseason games. Coaches openly discuss their game plans and there are a great deal of logical wagering opportunities that make for a season you shouldn't miss out on.

the best way to bet preseason is to pick your spots, i remeber last year NE was 0-2 and playing carolina in the 3rd of 4 games, NE was -2. I just knew that Belicheck would aproach that game as a regular season game, i dont remember the score but NE blew them out. There will be few spots this year too where some serious $ can be made.
