Betting info: Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field

At the time of this writing, the board is Atlanta Falcons +3.5 (1.91, -110) and Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5 (1.91, -110)

Steelers are 6-1 ATS mark as a preseason favorite, the Falcons are 3-4 in non-conference action during exhibition play.

Atlanta has definitely not supplied the same type of performance during the first two weeks of the preseason than it did in posting an NFC-best 13-3 mark last year. The Falcons enter Week 3 with an 0-2 record in dropping contests to the Miami Dolphins (28-23) and Jacksonville Jaguars (15-13). Things are not likely to turn around against this week’s opponent, losing all six previous meetings during the preseason against the Steelers. The last such meeting came in 2001, a 17-16 loss. Atlanta is 5-4 ATS in the last two-plus years in exhibition play.

The Falcons definitely know the type of physical contest that will be in store for them Saturday night, after being handed a 15-9 loss at Heinz Field to begin the 2010 regular season. “It’s going to be a challenge for us this week,” commented head coach Mike Smith. “Ball security is going to be very important and keeping our guy at quarterback on his feet.” Atlanta will try to keep some pressure off signal-caller Matt Ryan with the running game, but Michael Turner is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry thus far in the preseason.
