Bigger Bust: Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell

Listening to Jim Rome earlier this afternoon and he was talking about Russell going down as a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf and got me to think. Who is/was the biggest bust?

Not real sure how you would decide - both are obviously busts and neither did more than the other in the nfl to say that they were more successful

so leaf was drafted #2, russel was drafted #1

Russell bigger bust since he was taken higher - he's still playing tho, so he still has a chance to change it

now if leaf had been taken over peyton, then maybe different story

Leaf selected number 2 but I would be willing to wager that more was expected of him than there was for Russell who was picked number 1. I know I didn't expect Russell to do much, I thought he was a headcase in college and going to a place like Oakland wasn't going to help, LOL!!! In my opinion because my expectations of Russell were he was not a very good QB then I would have to vote for Ryan Leaf.

russell went #1 because of his game against ND and because al davis thought it was really cool that he could throw a football so far on his knees

bust - leaf

bonehead pick - russell

I voted Russell for a couple reasons. Russell has the first overall pick and was much worse than Leaf in the NFL. Part of Leafs problem was that he was such an idiot off the field. A whiney little bitch! Leaf not only was the number 2 pick, but the 2nd qb taken. Russell is one of the worst qb's i have seen and he does not care at all. Leaf was bad, real bad, but Russell is a joke. He cannot hit a wr that is wide open.

Another qb not that far off is Akili Smith! he never did anything!

Both are huge bust on the field, but Leaf easily takes this with his off field antics. Biggest dick ever. Now he might be serving prison time.

Can't say I disagree with this. Russell's in it for the money, and nothing else.

Russell hands down. At least Ryan threw a fit when he sucked it up at practice. Russell doesn't give a shit and they WAY over spent on a very below average player. But it is the raiders so it does not surprise me.

I vote Leaf, but long-term this could change. Leaf was a scrub on the field and off the field. Russell could end up being worse real soon.......

I'd go with Russell. He was a #1 pick, gets paid a crazy amount of money, and is completely useless.

This is why there should be a rookie cap like in basketball. There is no reason a rookie should be the highest paid player in the league before ever taking a snap.
