Bob Sanders

Rumors are that he is hurt possibly for the year AGAIN

Yesterday CBS showed he had played 47 games in his career and missed 49.

I love this guy but he is made of glass. I can't understand it. Yes he throws his body around and is only 5'8 200 but I just can not believe how injury prone he is.

In his career he has played more than 6 games in one year only TWICE and since signing a 5 year, $37.5 million contract with $20 million guaranteed after the 2007 season he has played in a total of 8 games.

Before the season I argued with my buddy about him being worth the risk and why they are keeping him around and still paying him (came up when Antonio Bryant was released) and I defended him up and down because he is in fact one of the top defensive players in the league.

But he can't be when he NEVER stays healthy.

So what do the Colts do now? If in fact he is hurt and done for the year do they cut ties in the offseason?

guy's a hell of a player but if i'm not mistaken, i don't think their record really has suffered all that much when he's not in the lineup anyway

Their defense against the run has always been very weak and he is known as a run stopping safety. Plus in the "Tampa 2" you need a run stopping safety (see John Lynch) for it to really be successful. He went out yesterday and Houston ran it down their throats. Not saying it is because he went out but something to consider.

And the question was do you cut ties with him or keep paying him to be an injured pro bowler in the prime of his career?

It is unfortunate that is always hurt, as I think IF he could ever stay healthy, he would be a heck of a player. Seeing as he is so fragile, I think Indy should look next year at a safety to either groom OR take over for him. You can't count on him playing a full season much less 8 games.

He's played in 47 games and been out of the lineup 49 times in his career, not good.
