Question Brad Childress

This is to the Vikings fans mostly

Do people in Minnesota like Childress as a coach? The guy was almost ran out of town a few years ago and I know they recently extended him

From an outsider, he looks like he is always confused and out of place

Does he ever out coach the opponent?

His approval rating from the fans here in Minny is about 5%. People hate him here, for the most part

Think he gets a bad rap a little. I think he hires excellent assistants, Mike Tomlin, Leslie Frazier, Darrell Bevell etc are all very good coaches.

I think the players play hard for him and respect him. Think he is good in the locker room.

Horrible game day coach IMO. Does everything else vey well but think he doesn't react well when the game plan is going against him or in situations where he has to think fast and decisively.

Team is getting older so it will be interesting to see what happens next year, especially if Favre doesn't come back.

Most people hate him here and will always hate him. Think it has to do with his approach the first few years. Most people give the credit of this team to Favre and not Childress.

It didn't make sense that he was extended before winning a playoff game. I don't think it was a coincidence that the Favre/Childress spat came to light right after that extension was signed. Childress knew Favre gave him a better shot than Sage or Jackson on getting that extension.

The one thing I respect about him as that he is doing it his way. He knows this might be his only shot and doesn't care who he pisses off or how he is viewed. He will win or lose his way.

how can you not be happy with a coach that has you in the super bowl if his players could hold on to the football? underrated if anything

What I will never understand is why when they got to the 33-yard line with a minute left, and two time-outs, they just gave up trying to move down the field, choosing to run the ball into the pile instead. It looked like they were going to settle for a 50 or 51-yard FG attempt. I know it's a dome with perfect conditions, but that's still never an easy FG attempt.

On first down with the two timeouts in their pocket, a couple of short passes could have gotten them somewhere around the 25 or 20-yard line and a much easier attempt with the clock wound down close to zero.

That seemed like very poor and questionable coaching to me.

Right or wrong, people think they win despite Childress, not because of him. People put all the success this year on Favre

He is NOT a good in game coach. That is readily apparent many times a game.

Again, I think he gets somewhat of a bad rap because people don't consider the behind the scenes stuff as much as what they see from his confused looks on the sidelines.

Mike Tice - lmao

Gerk - what happens after Favre doesn't come back & a late opening opens up & Frazier gets hired - I think Childress would last a year following

the part I was commenting with childress was his game day coaching. He looks like he gets rattled

The most prominent sports writer in town who knows Favre is convinced he will be back next year. The only thing we know about Favre is everything depends on the day you talk to him.

Think the Vikings will be in for a long season next year, with or without Favre

Agree with this. If wining your division, getting the two seed and coming within a couple of plays of the NFC championship gets your coach fired, then Minny fans expectations are way, way overblown.

If Favre doesnt come back, I think Sage has potential to be a star in that system
