Brady placed on injured reserve

Not that there was probably much doubt, but now officially out for the season

Patriots placed QB Tom Brady on injured reserve, ending his season.
The team is unlikely to reveal the injury's exact extent, but the NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported that Brady's MCL may have been torn in addition to his ACL. It's unclear when he'll have surgery. Randy Moss is locked up through 2010 and Wes Welker is under control through 2011, so Brady could remain a top-five fantasy QB in 2009 barring setbacks. But he's unlikely to return to the top of the heap coming off this devastating injury.

How wide open does the AFC look at this point? Brady goes down, Indy looks awful against a mediocre Bears squad, SD loses at home to a good Carolina team, Jax goes down at Tenn. Craziness. Pittsburgh looked like a complete team in Week 1. Hard to judge based on one week, but the Big 4 all had issues, some of which will linger for another 16 weeks or so (Brady)..........

On the other hand, Dallas, Philly, and Carolina all very impressive. New Orleans looked decent, and the Giants played well for a half. I think the disparity gap is closing between the AFC and NFC.........

disparity gap didnt close. it just flipped 180 degrees.

yes AFC wide open. Pitt looked solid, but Houston is weak. SD and IND looked weak. Jax didnt show much either. At this point Jets and Bills could be in the running.

Bills fans are LICKING their chops today. It's all I hear on the Buffalo radio. They even thanked the guy who did it.

C'mon Zoom - It has closed. With Brady they were GREAT. Without him the Patriots are no better than an above average team. The Patriots have little chance to win a playoff game and making the playoffs is no guarantee. JMO

as a Pats fan it just sucks. i guess Pats haters can say this is Karma for spygate, hoodie being a dickhead...etc....

but you always want to go into games with your best team and it sucks that it wont be that way this year.

ill be happy with a playoff appearence but I dont see much success this year without one of the best Offensive Players in football behind center.

Having lived in Boston in the early 90's (during the, shall we say, lean years), I became a Pats fan next to Dallas. Lived about 15 minutes from old Foxborough Stadium and could go to the games and scalp tix for face 5 minutes before kickoff. They're definitely less likeable with Belli now, but my personal opinion is that anyone that doesn't like Brady is just sour grapes because their team can't beat NE when he plays. Don't like seeing him go down - he's a class act, IMO........

i think you wont be able to tell who will be around in the afc until at least week 6...early games there are usually some upsets because of all the rust on teams who haven't played a full game and most haven't played in 2 weeks or more

have to disagree jack... maybe with cassle they are no better than average, but Brady was not the main reason this team has been so successful over the last few years

i disagree...between him and belichick its 50/50. Just look at the enormous amount of turnover on the personnel side...but there has always been a constant which is those two guys. Take 1 away and I think you go down to average level

jack the gap reference was about AFC and NFC. and i mean now the gap is the other way around. after this week, with the injuries and the quality displayed i can say that the NFC seems to be stronger than the AFC right now.
