Exclamation Brady Quinn traded to Broncos

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4995081

The Denver Broncos have acquired quarterback Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for fullback Peyton Hillis, a sixth-round pick in 2011 and a conditional pick in 2012.

The Browns agreed to terms on a two-year deal with quarterback Jake Delhomme on Saturday. Delhomme was released by the Carolina Panthers last week.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter first reported the deal, and a source told Schefter that Delhomme is scheduled to make $7 million this season, including just under $900,000 in base salary. With $12.7 million from Carolina, Delhomme will make $19.7 million in 2010.

Quinn opened last season as Cleveland's starter, was benched after 10 quarters, then got his job back. He went 2-7 in nine starts.

Quinn missed Cleveland's final two games after hurting his left foot in a Dec. 20 win over Kansas City. He finished 136 of 256 (53 percent) for 1,339 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

No way can you call what Brady Quinn was given in Cleveland a legitimate shot at success. Obviously they just had a regime change with Holmgren coming in and he wants to start encorporating his ways and means.

This is a no lose situation for Denver getting a player who is still an unknown in the NFL.....Quinn has all the tools for success and given the right opportunity might be able to flourish. If he busts Denver gave up peanuts to get him. Unlike Chicago who who were forced to mortgage their next two drafts for Cutler.

Sharp ass post...Cleveland was, how should I put this, muthafuc*ing pathetic last year on offense and the fault was not the QB's... and I don't know why San Diego would be happy about Denver addressing its QB issues in any fashion.

I cant disagree with you Blaze about Cleveland being sad sap but they actually improved dramatically on offense once Quinn and Jerome Harrison started being used exclusively.

This seems to be more or less Cleveland trying to change their culture.

It's not surprising that you guys would be happy about a guy coming from a struggling team to be our QB. But unlike Cutler, Quinn is a winner. Plus now he'll get his revenge against JaMarcus Russell twice a year for the Sugar Bowl.

Say what you want, but we have a much better chance of winning games with Quinn as QB than Orton. There won't be any controversy. They'll both want to start, which means a competition so they actually have to PLAY for their position, instead of it just being handed to them (still say Brandstater should've gotten the nod last year as he was better than Orton pre-season). Anyways, we'll see how it plays out. Glad to see him on the team.
