Bad move! This will be a move that will come back and haunt the Browns. You have a guy that's only 26, 2 years removed from a Pro Bowl season. You're basically turning the team over to a QB in Quinn that shows why he dropped in the draft with every snap he takes. The last 2 years, the Browns have had the worse receiving corps in the NFL. I would not be surprised if DA ends up back in Baltimore. If I'm DA, if Favre doesn't come back, he may end up in Minnesota, but Arizona appears to be a prime spot. I'm not sold on Leinart, I don't think Arizona is either, They have a strong set of receivers, good running game, and offensive line. DA can make all the throws. He will be on the field somewhere this year, as Quinn gets beat out by career back-up Wallace.

since that Pro Bowl year, the numbers do not back that up sportspicks. Anderson has sucked royally for 2 years now. Mangina gave him every opportunity to be the QB, and he couldn't cut it.

BTW--props to another December, 2003 guy

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

Anderson, let the local media tell it, wasn't even supposed to make the team out of training camp. I thought he was a far better QB than Frye in 2006. The way the situation was handled, was a joke within itself. All the while Anderson was winning 10 games, never losing 2 in a row in 2007, all you heard was the call for Quinn. They expected Anderson to flameout, and Quinn would be given the job. It was actually the first week, first opportunity Anderson took reps as a starter, and he lit up the Bengals, and off they went.

After tying for the Division crown, losing to Pittsburgh on a tie-breaker, there wasn't a single move made in the off-season that improved the team in 2008. Stallworth was worthless, the Browns had more injuries to start the season, than any other team. They didn't even want to bring Anderson back. After doing so reluctantly, he wasn't even given the job, even though he had earned it. When Cassell went to Kansas City, there was no competition, he was the starter. Anderson had a concussion, and wasn't even practicing outside.

Quinn was so terrible against Detroit, that they actually rushed Anderson back. Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore were 3 of the first 4 games. The play calling was terrible, Edwards and Winslow were terrible, the defense was awful, and yet all the blame fell to Anderson. Browns led the league in drops the last 2 seasons, didn't matter who the QB was. Quinn was given the job last year, couldn't convert 3rd downs, let alone generate 1st downs, the defense never rested, as most of his passes were 5 yards or back to the line of scrimmage.

Winslow is traded to Tampa bay, where he has no complaints about losing or catching a bunch of 5 yard passes, so as long as he is getting paid. Edwards was shipped of to New York, after catching 10 passes in 4 games, 0 TD's and probably about 12-15 drops. he didn't do Sanchez any favors either. Now you have him throwing to a rookie that had trouble getting off the line of scrimmage, Cribbs, who was playing the position for the 2st time, and the others aren't even worth mentioning, they all had drop after drop, weren't getting out of routes, a TE in Royal who had balls hitting him in the face mask. No running game, and an offensive line that struggled. You're only as good as the players around you.

I would love to see Anderson go to Arizona, or Minnesota if Favre decides not to return. Flacco has been average at best, but has managed the game well, has a great defense and strong running game. He could very well end up back there. He is by far the best QB available. This will come back to haunt Browns

The News
After being released by the Browns on Tuesday, Derek Anderson hurled some grenades at the team's fans, according to the News-Herald. "The fans are ruthless and don't deserve a winner," he said. "I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn't great. I hope and pray I'm playing when my team comes to town and (we) roll them."

Our View
In Anderson's defense, Cleveland's fans are a rowdy bunch. In that rowdy bunch's defense, Anderson was borderline historically awful as his time in Ohio wound down.
