Talking Chargers re-sign Gates to 5 year extension

Locks up one of the best TE in NFL history and future HOF making him a Charger for life. Next up is Mcneill...Vjax will be shipped out of town

Gates needs to stay healthy for them this season thats for sure. They are going to need him making plays.

5 year contracts in NFL don't mean 5 years but no brainer move, not only on field but public relations too

where vjax going? I'd love him Miami. Anywhere but the Jets

That deal can't have too much guaranteed money. 5 years seems like a lot. I don't feel looking up how old he is so how old is he?

He's still a good TE but he's losing steps and it's noticeable, luckily he's a freak

i think he will be around for a good amount of that if not all 5 years as 2/3 of the contract is guaranteed and he's only just turned 30 putting up one of his best seasons ever. Love the guy, he is the ideal player/teammate, never complains and always a stand up guy.

Vjax is going to hold out and they dont want his distraction, they have enough playmakers on offense to win games they believe. i think either training camp or early in the season if the price is right...he's had too many dui's and f ups for the chargers to keep him on

because he's 30 and even I noticed he didn't look as sharp as he once did and I only saw 6 charger games. he's still a freak but he's def slowing down a bit. don't get all defensive about it, it was one of the 1st times in his career he wasn't the best pass catching option and wasn't double teamed which is the reason for his numbers

haha i'm not defensive about it, im just saying...30 isnt the same for a pass catching te as it is for a rb. and you dont put up career seasons if you're dropping off. btw vjax has been around for 4 years and he had similar production in 2008 and 2009. the reason was he was finally recovered from the toe injury he got in the playoffs of 2007 that hurt his 2008 season
