Chiefs complete trade for Cassel

http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/28/chie...de-for-cassel/

Looks like KC got a decent Qb, now what happens to Thigpen, thought this kid played well last year.

i watched thigpen play several times and i thought he was at least worth a year to start and evaluate.

lmao...cassell is going to be another matt schaub. he played 1 season in which most teams only had a handful of game tape on him. wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much to give up...clearly pioli trying to give pats more picks

outside of knowing exactly what they gave up at this point.....great move for KC

No QB worth giving money to in draft, now they can address countless other needs.

thigpen is athletic with big arm, but has a long way to go. Cassel provides insurance and should only improve after his first season. His ability to read defenses and throw intermediate-to deep ball will only improve. His ability to make proper decisions is already evident

Vrabel and Cassel for the 34th pick? Pats must yet again no something we don't. Seems like the Chiefs paid a small price for the coveted QB remaining to be moved Pats must have little faith OR this could be contingent to draft day in which Pats will use that pick to move up with other pieces added in

I think that the Chiefs are accepting Patriot "hand me downs". Does anyone know for sure that Cassell is not a "1 year wonder"? He was held to 20 ponts or less in half of his games, and that was with a Pro Bowl WR, a multi-superbowl winning HC, and a very good cast of characters to operate with. He will get none of those in Kansas City.

I thought Pats might get a 3rd rounder too or a pick next year. Ive heard alot of people say well why wasnt the 3rd pick involved and why didnt they switch first round spots and I dont think the Pats would really want that over the 34th because of how much it costs to sign the top 10 picks compared to value you get in the late first or early second which costs nothing

Exciting for KC they just got a qb and still have the 3rd pick to either take a tackle or prob Curry.

What the hell do the Chiefs have to lose to take the chance on Cassell.
Like you said they have nothing else in KC and need to start somewhere?
They straight up blew this past season. I would give up my first few rounds on a QB with a years experience that showed potential.

Pats now with the 23rd pick, 34th, 47th, and 58th so they are prob looking at adding more youth to the defense. Prob get a linebacker with the 1st rounder then look for some dbs. Could even package some picks to move up, cant wait for the draft

for all of you saying that you thought thigpen deserved another shot, well i think he sucks and im a avid chiefs fan and go to kc from time to time.its better to get someone who has played in the nfl and is still young rather than get someone who never took a snap in the nfl and be disappointed with him after the fact.bottom line is the chiefs gave up a little and its a good chance for them to get a solid qb if he pans out

It must work out for both teams so who are we to question the motives. I was not surprised that Cassell went somewhere. The Chiefs might have done well here. Cant wait to see!
