Colts One Week Away From History

The Indianapolis Colts have matched the New England Patriots’ winning-streak record (2006-2008) of 21 consecutive victories, coming away with a 27-17 win over the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon.

Coincidentally, the 5-7 Titans were the last team to beat the Colts, back on Oct. 27, 2008.

We’re witnessing the first time in NFL history that two teams have managed to stay undefeated this far into a season, as the New Orleans Saints also remain unbeaten headed into Week 14. The Colts are enjoying their seventh straight 12-win season… which is also a record, and more or less unheard of.

Three-time MVP quarterback and successful commercial actor Peyton Manning completed 24 of 37 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown, hooking up with Pierre Garcon six times to give him a career-high 136 yards.

Chris Johnson continued to kick ass, running for 100 yards in his seventh straight game to tie Earl Campbell’s franchise record. Johnson finished with 113 yards, falling just short of a seventh straight 125-yard game, while Joseph Addai ran the ball 21 times for a season-high 79 yards and two TDs.

Not only will Indianapolis have a shot at owning the record for most consecutive victories with a win at home against the Denver Broncos next week, but they’ll also have a chance at breaking the record for most wins in a decade, which they are currently tied with the San Francisco 49ers of the 1990s at 113.

Apparently, being this awesome is all some of the Colts players know how to be.

“You try to tell these guys that when you win a couple in a row, or three or four in a row, this is not normal,” Manning said. “It’s not normal to win 10 or 11 or 12 games every year. But these guys that have been here five years would tell me it is normal for us. That’s all they’ve done.”

The Colts, who have flip-flopped with the Saints between the top two spots in our power rankings over the last few weeks, are a 7-point favorite over the Broncos in Week 14 betting odds.

mike saints look good but their defense is horrid. I guess anything can happen and i dont live in a world of what ifs but washington kicker makes that extra point kick then it wouldve been game over.

im telling you guys that team isnt losing at home this year

you can point out the weakneses all you want but nobody can keep pace offensively

and that team is on another level at home

at vikings id agree, but it doesnt look like they will have homefield

I have nothing but a betting interest in them

the cards cant keep pace? lol ok...and i guarantee the cards defense can stop the saints a few times. plus brees chokes in the playoffs...saints are so overrated. that offense isnt any better than colts or chargers, or vikings (who btw with their run game can control the clock)
