I thought when Warner announced his retirement, this would have made Leinart motivated to prove he was worthy have a higher selection. But so far, I have been very unimpressed & quite frankly, if you have to go to Anderson, I dont think he is a much better option. This could end up a long season if your a Cardinals fan.

I have never been big on Leinart, however Derek Anderson is worse. Cardinals are going to be a very interesting team to bet on this year, at home Leinart should play well and the Cards will bite people at home but on the road this year they could be an absoloute trainwreck like in past years(last year not bad on the road)

I have to believe that the Cardinals know the chances of them doing anything this year is slim and they need to find out what they have in Leinart to determine whether he is going to be the QB next year and on and can't see them making a change unless he gets hurt(to be honest I truly believe he won't make it through the year healthy and we will see Anderson starting a few games because of it)

Had Leinart not been a bitch he would have been a 49er

If Leinart gets replaced at any time this year he will be cut next year

They have been playing the 2006 Rose Bowl on ESPNU. I've watched this game a good four times now. Still hard to believe that Leinert and Dwayne Jarrett haven't done well in the NFL, they were so good in college. I'm still rooting for them to pan out.

Anyway, I read something interesting regarding Leinert that was written this offseason: Against teams who play zone, he does fantastic (think for example, the "crown their ass" Bears game; Chicago plays Tampa 2). His numbers are terrible, however, against heavy blitz and man-to-man teams. Some solid gambling info to have as long as Leinert is starting.

i have watched both these guys QB, and frankly neither is going to do all that much, maybe a hot day here and there... lienert looks like he just wants his paycheck and doesnt want to get hurt, he is totally content with being a backup, pays well for his contract.... in the real world we call it sandbagging, but it is what it is.

If I was a Cardinals fan I'd be more excited about Max Hall's play last night. It was the fourth quarter of week 2 preseason, but still he looked very good. Moved around well in the pocket and threw strikes. Fitz certainly liked what he saw judging by his reaction on the sidelines.

You were right. Week #4...of preseason...

Matt Leinart’s days in Arizona appear to be numbered. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Cardinals are shopping the former first-round pick. As you know, Leinart was recently benched for Derek Anderson. His response to the benching has been about as divisive as it gets.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic quoted Leinart as saying "I feel like I've outplayed the competition, training camp, preseason," he said. "I think my play speaks about that. For me, this goes beyond the football field.

"The philosophy is you want the best 11 guys to play. I feel like I've proved that with my performance. I don't really know what else I could possibly do, so it probably goes beyond football. For me, I just really want an explanation, and I haven't been given one."

The Cardinals have very little leverage in trading Leinart right now. Any team that acquires the fifth-year pro would be looking to make him a backup -- which, obviously, is a role Leinart would not be thrilled with.

If we were to speculate about landing spots…the Bills are always at the top of this list, given that they haven’t had a quarterback since Drew Bledsoe left. The Browns may want to look beyond Jake Delhomme; if they have doubts about Colt McCoy, might they be willing to give Leinart a shot? And, of course, given that Leinart is a disappointing former first-round pick, the Raiders are certainly a possibility. A darkhorse team might be the Texans, who badly need a backup for Matt Schaub.
