Do we care that a team with a losing record makes the playoffs?
Talking about this on "Mike and Mike"
Possible in the NFC West that a team with a losing record not only makes the playoffs, but would host a 1st Round game Is it cyclical and we should leave it alone or should the conferences just take the best records, regardless of division Your thoughts?

Division winners can't be left out of the playoffs or why have divisions? However I do think they should re seed 1-6 and a 7-9 division winner should not get to host a playoff game over a 12-4 wildcard. Jmo

It's fine. Winning a division is rewarded by hosting at least 1 game in the playoffs. If winning a division didn't matter, blow the whole thing up and start over.
We debate this every year, and every year it's the same thing. Get over it. |

If you have a losing record you should not get a bye in the first week. Schedule should go off of wins and loses.

Who cares what your record was in the regular season, it means nothing in the playoffs. All you have to do is get HOT late. The GIANTS (my team thanks) proved that in 2008 by shocking the so called best team in football the PATS. All you have to do it get in. Back door, or whatever just get in. Everyone will have a chance.

you will however host a playoff game vs a wildcard team, even if they have a better record, if youre a division winner

The FALCONS stand to benefit the most with the best record. They are SO FAR un beatable in the DOME. Just remember though, all streaks must eventually come to the an end. I saw alot of holes in the falcons yesterday. I really hope GBAY gets another shot at them with almost a full team. Can you imagine.

think they should still make the playoffs, but you shouldn't be able to host a game if you are not ABOVE .500... at least do that...

I agree with what Jack said.
If a losing record team gets in... that's fine, that's what the divisions are about. But no way should a losing record division winner host a game vs a winning record wild card team. |
