Drew Bledsoe - HOF?

Is he? Based on stats? I say yes. He is the reason I became a Patriots fan.

This Saturday, Drew Bledsoe will be inducted into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame at Patriot Place in Foxborough along with Jon Morris. There was no question that Bledsoe would be inducted into the Hall at Patriot Place not only due to his prolific pass numbers and franchise records (being broken now by Tom Brady), but also because of the significant role he played in reviving the Patriots franchise. He joined Bill Parcells to make the Patriots not only a relevant NFL team, but a Super Bowl contender. During his last year in New England, he came in off the bench for an injured Tom Brady in the AFC Championship Game and helped get them to the Super Bowl, which the team went on to win for the first time in franchise history.

While his lore in New England is unquestioned, is he Canton-worthy?

The thought never really entered my mind because he was hammered at times in the media and by a contingent of fans while he was in New England. Personally, I would put him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but I am EXTREMELY biased on the topic, as you may know (and if you don’t, you can READ THIS). However, Jeff Howe of NESN.com stacked up Bledsoe’s numbers against other QB Hall of Famers and Bledsoe fairs extremely well. When you add some historical context to Bledsoe, his case becomes stronger.

There’s no cut-and-dry answer in regard to Bledsoe’s Pro Football Hall of Fame credentials, but he’s got enough to be on the bubble, at worst. When his numbers are stacked up against the best who have ever played, Bledsoe surely looks like a player who deserves enshrinement.

Some Hall of Famers transcend the sport with their popularity off the field or an achievement that helped the NFL reach new levels of success. Bledsoe was good enough to help keep the Patriots in New England, entice Bill Parcells to embark on a new journey and push the Pats toward their Super Bowl era.

If Bledsoe didn't get hurt, Brady wouldn't have come in to get NE their first ring (and the ones that followed)

That should garner some votes.

Bledsoe also is what got me to become a Patriots fan as a kid. So, I'm biased as well about the HoF ;)

No way is this guy a HOF. Only a .500 record in games started. ALL-Pro only twice and both times 2nd team. 6th all time in fumbles and sacks. Racked up a load of yardage but it was during a passing era and he was throwing the ball a ton.
77.1 passer rating, Kyle Orton's career passer rating is currently 79.

Cheating Jesus. He IS the reason I became a Patriots fan as well. To me, no one can say anything bad about him (as a pat). I actually didn't like Brady remaining as the starter. And pissed when he left for buffalo. I actually became a sub-fan of the Bills because of it. To this day. Btw, I also hate Curtis Martin for leaving the patriots.

I was also upset when Bledsoe left for Buffalo...but I have a Bledsoe Bill's jersey.... ]

And as great as Brady is and how much I love the guy lifting us to be the best team in the league...still don't have his jersey JUST because he replaced Bledsoe.

Oh, and two years before we got Cory Dillion I kept trading for him on Madden. When we got him as a RB I was like....I'M A GENIUS. lmao.
