Excellent write up on Saturday preseason game.......

This writeup is courtesy of a great handicapper "Bookiefits"... Enjoy!!!

Seattle +3.5 I am going to buy the hook here...it is cheap and 4 is a pretty good number. I know a lot of people are not crazy about preseason, but there are some games that, to me, fit a certain profile to make a play worth it. I will be the first to agree that the preseason can pretty much be a crap shoot. Figuring out coaches and players motivations are often the only way to cap these games.

There are a couple of reason why I like Seattle in this spot. First of all, you have a new coach. Not new to the NFL, just new to Seattle. Jim Mora likes to win in preseason, and boasts an 8-5 record. New coaches love to make a statement in preseason. I cant think of a better situation than a new coach of a team coming off a very disappointing season, playing against a team who had a very succesful season. In all fairness, Norv Turner is 10-6 in preseason, but W-L are different that ATS wins...I like the 4 points we are GETTING.

The second reason goes along with the first. You have a Seattle team, two seasons removed from NFC west champions, with basically the same core talent, playing against a Chargers team who pretty much have their postitions secured...at least with the starting lineups. I dont feel like this team will play with a lot of heart and that Seattle has more to prove this preseason.

Finally, I really like Seattles QB rotation. I think that Hasselback will see plenty of reps in preseason, and will probably be on his game after an injury filled year last year. Word is his back is feeling great. Seneca Wallace is a very good preseason QB as well, and this is the real key of this play. He has the ability to make things happen with his feet and arm, and will basically be going against San Diegos 3rd stringers when he steps into the game...my guess is probably the middle of the second quarter.

Phillip Rivers is an excellent QB, but when you look at who is coming in after him, I dont see Volek or Whitehurst scaring anyone. Volek is an aging vet, and I think Whitehust will get the 2nd half. Checkmate to Seattle.

I like the points..I like the ML. The only reason I am not making this a stronger play is the fact that Turner likes to win in preseason too...I just dont think this is the spot for max effort. 1 unit

Special Note

Seattle – Jim Mora takes over as head coach of the Seahawks. Mora was the Seattle DB coach last season so he was around for this very strong preseason trend for the Seahawks that has seen 13 of the last 18 Seattle games go 'over' the total, including 3-1 last year. Plus have to add in here is that Mora in his last season as head coach of Atlanta in '06 saw the over be the right side in three of the four Falcons preseason games. All this makes the 'over' in the Seahawks preseason games a very strong play for this year.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Matt Hasselbeck, Seneca Wallace, Jeff Rowe, and Mike Teel (rookie-Rutgers)
