Favre V. Rodgers : My quick take

Just was talking to a buddy of mine about Favre V. Rodgers

Rodgers has now already gotten a ring and a Super Bowl MVP (which Favre doesnt) and now his whole career to add to that. I started to think, could Rodgers really end up having a better career than Favre?

I think Rodgers will be more consistent than Favre, I dont see the horrible mistakes and games Rodgers having that Favre has had time after time in big games. However, in a way I dont see Rodgers doing some of the amazing things Favre has in his career.

Then I stopped myself, after seeing Rodgers this season, and this post-season especially with that gun and that poise and him overcoming all the shit he already has who is to say Rodgers wont have a better career, and dare I say, who's to say Rodgers maybe is just better!!!!!

Am I crazy? Am I remembering this post-season too much and Favre's shitty season? Will Aaron Rodgers go down as a better QB in history than Favre? He already has 1 ring, like Favre, 1 super bowl MVP, Favre doesnt, and regardless if he ever wins another super bowl is there any doubt really that this guy is gonna put up great numbers season after seaon from here on out???

Could Rodgers not only replace Favre but actually better him???

For the record I am NOT a GB, Favre, or Rodgers homer. Unbiased

Is Rogers better?

Yes Rodgers is a better qb but won't stick around long enough to break the same records. But Rodgers is def better qb imo

Not a bash on Rogers but damn GB had a great "D" this year, especially the last 1/2 of season.

Rogers is good, if not great, as he (they) won w/ no running game.

Will Rogers win another championship? Time will tell but I'm guessing "Yes".

The difference will be the longevity of Brett. Brett was never hurt and played for alot of seasons. Rodgers will make make his own mark on this league though.

Rodgers has better D and better receivers IMO...

I like both guys - tough to pick at this point.

I think a lot of mallers are simply sick of hearing about Favre... let that wear off and a few more seasons go by and then we'll talk...

He is the best QB to ever play the game. Stats don't lie. To try and compare Rodgers to Farve . Not even close. Rodgers could not fit into Bretts jock strap. I wonder if we will see Rodgers playing at the age of 40? still piling up great numbers like Farve has? Doubt that very much.

The guy is only human and his legacy is just that... "his legacy"!
He doesn't hold us or the media hostage. The Media holds us hostage by constantly playing clips of him and asking if he'll be back for another year.

I guess my big question is..."Why do people take such a personal interest and get so heated about whether he retires or plays yet again another year"? So what is he takes long to decide...It's his life isn't it? He's still a great Football player who can play at a high level!

Brett Favre is a retired American football quarterback. He was a 20-year veteran of the NFL, having played quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons (1991), Green Bay Packers (1992–2007), New York Jets (2008) and Minnesota Vikings (2009–2010). Favre is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 70,000 yards, the only quarterback to throw over 500 touchdowns, the only quarterback to throw over 300 interceptions, and the only quarterback to have over 10,000 pass attempts. He officially retired on January 17, 2011.

Favre started at the quarterback position for the University of Southern Mississippi for four years before being selected in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft by Atlanta (33rd overall). He was traded to Green Bay on February 10, 1992, for the 19th pick in the 1992 NFL Draft.

Favre became the Packers' starting quarterback in the fourth game of the 1992 season, and started every game through the 2007 season. He was traded to the New York Jets and started at quarterback for the 2008 season before signing with the Vikings on August 18, 2009 as their starting quarterback. He made an NFL record 297 consecutive starts (321 including playoffs).

He is the only player to win the AP Most Valuable Player three consecutive times (1995–97). He has led teams to eight division championships (1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009), five NFC Championship Games (1995, 1996, 1997, 2007, 2009), and two Super Bowl appearances (Super Bowl XXXI, Super Bowl XXXII), winning one (Super Bowl XXXI).

He holds many NFL records, including most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, most career interceptions thrown, most consecutive starts, most consecutive starts by a QB, most career victories as a starting quarterback, most sacked, and most fumbles.

Did Dan Marino win any Super Bowls? Was he a good QB?

So, would you say Rodgers is a better QB than Dan Marion? Cause Rodgers won a Super Bowl?

Dude, are you kidding he is the best QB ever??? The only reason Brett has the records is because he never misses a game and played for 20 years. Don't get me wrong, he is a great QB, but his record stats are because of longevity. In Bretts entire career he only had 1 season with a QB rating over 100, only one!!

Rodgers has only started for 3 years so it is ridiculous to compare the two at this point, but i can tell you Rodgers can definitely fit in favres jock strap and has already had 2 better stats seasons in his first 3 years than Brett had for his entire career with GB. Fact! Rodgers just needs to do it over a career.

so you are using the old and tired marino vs dilfer argument?

of course marino was a great qb, and dilfer wasnt, althought the latter has a ring

rodgers doesnt fall into the dilfer category in any way

he has great pocket presence, laser arm, that fits windows nobody in the league but maybe 3 other Qbs can, hes mobile, and has a very quick release

really what is your point?

maybe 2 other Qbs in the league can make this throw, thats it

Im not a packer fan but i cashed big yesterday, and I know when I see greatness

is he better than favre? well what are we comparing? best year vs best year? surely you cant compare careers, as one was a starter for 18 years + and the other 3 years

get a grip you sound like a teenager or a girl. either way weak argument
