A few thoughts on Irsay/Colts/Manning/Favre...

Jim Irsay is known as a "jokester" type of guy and that's mainly what the latest headlines are all about.....or are they?

I've said it all along that Manning's off season surgeries are a bigger deal than what people are making it. Ask Sterling Sharpe what it's like to have to deal with neck issues. Ultimately it cost Sterling his career and an opportunity to go down as one of the greatest to play. Neck injuries are very serious and when you have to have surgery to take care of a lingering issue then you have problems.

The Colts aren't going to go after Favre because I don't think Favre is interested in coming back for a few weeks, putting in the work, learning a system, and playing with a mediocre offensive line.

All this says to me is: Are the Colts being completely honest about Peyton's rehab and eventual return? I don't think so.....I think Peyton is going to be out longer than most expect. If I had to guess, I'd say Week 3.

Neck surgery is a big deal....twice in one offseason is a big deal too. The consecutive starts streak means NOTHING when it comes to Peyton's ability to continue his career in the NFL.

Wouldn't shock me at all if he missed a week or two in the regular season. Based on his own assessments, I'd say he knows he is borderline to start the season. Remember, if he comes back unprepared, it only takes one knock to end his season/career.

Ego and records need to be put on the back burner.....this is a neck surgery we are talking about. Consecutive starts don't mean anything when his career is on the line....
