FYI--Steelers have cut Jeff Reed

PITTSBURGH (AP)—The Pittsburgh Steelers have cut Jeff Reed(notes), who began the season as one of the 10 most accurate kickers in NFL history but has been erratic all season.

Reed, the Steelers’ kicker since the middle of the 2002 season, will be replaced by former Redskins and Cowboys kicker Scott Suisham. He was worked out by the Steelers on Tuesday at Heinz Field, where Reed missed a 26-yarder against the Patriots on Sunday.

Reed missed seven of 22 attempts this season, including all four of his attempts between the 40- and 49-yard lines. He had only eight misses combined in 62 attempts during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Reed ranks 12th in NFL history with an 81.9 percent accuracy rate (204 of 249).

good to see you RPM

Kickers can go from accurate to unemployed in a year. Amazes me the number of good teams that have shitty kickers (Jets, Saints, Giants, dare I include the Cowboys ?) And as soon as there is an opening, the same shitty re-treads come popping up.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

Been lurking, figured I would pass along alittle info.

Locally, lots of folks glad to see one of the team cancers has been cut. Actually didnt think they would keep him to start the year.

How long before we hear rumours that the Jets will be working out kickers? If I am not mistaken Folk missed 3 field goals on Sunday & 2 were relatively easy in terms of his range.

Probably could have survived the missed FG's. But after his live Q&A on radio this week where he throw the groundskeeper and the fans under the bus then compounded it by saying " I am not the only player" that feels that way to throw the players under the bus was bad.. Q&A cutoff midstream by a audible voice in the background saying "thats it interview over guys" one would assume it was cutoff by the nearest Pitt PR man.. More mouth then miss.. Kickoff's suck also.. He had his moments... clutch for a long time.. no hard feelings here.. more good then bad.. no harmful shit.. kid shit.. idiot with a stage.. gl. R

Hi RPM, I honestly thought you had died until recently.
Hope you and family are well! Do you still do any Steeler stores at the malls?

Nice to see you around again. Thanks for the info, I figured he would be getting his walking papers after missing a field goal I could have made. GLTU

missing FG's prob only 50% of the reason for cut..
