EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants have suffered yet another massive blow as wide receiver Steve Smith will undergo season-ending knee surgery.

Smith underwent an MRI to his left knee on Tuesday and the team announced he suffered an articular cartilage injury to his knee when he was awkwardly tackled from behind in the Vikings game on Monday.

Smith's surgery has not been scheduled yet. Smith had just returned after a four-game layoff due to a partially torn pectoral injury.

Smith had 48 receptions for 529 yards and three touchdowns after making the Pro Bowl the season before. Third receiver Mario Manningham suffered a hip flexor injury against the Vikings on Monday. Head coach Tom Coughlin will update the injury shortly.

The team placed linebacker Clint Sintim on injured reserve Wednesday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and signed defensive end Alex Hall to the roster. The Giants also added linebacker Kenny Ingram to the practice squad and waived defensive tackle Joe Joseph.

He was a great clutch receiver, so I can see this affecting them going forward. I wonder who they will get, as I thought they had Clayton signed a few weeks back.

eli manning has made some of the worst decisions i have ever seen this year. You don't hear much about it though.. wonder why that is ?

Who doesn't hear much about it?

I hear about/see it all the time.

This probably doesn't pop up on Cowboy forums that much as you're too busy worrying about which part of the team/coaching staff to turn upside down to create a winning environment.

Still would rather have a winner (Eli) than a loser (Romo) anyday.
