Gopher Wrestling taking the Pack!

Haven't posted much lately so thought I would get it out there.

I'm going with the Packers and it appears like I'm fading most of the mall. I like the Kampman match-up going against the rookie right tackle for the Vikes. As a packer fan living in Wisky I see more of the Pack and Vikes than any other team. I think Favre going against Woodson and Harris is advantage Packers. Also, McCarthey is nothing special as HC but Childress is down right awful. If you don't believe me, ask any Viking fan. The key obviously is for GB to follow the 49ers blue print. Contain Peterson (easier said then done) and make Favre beat you. I think Favre will come out ready to gunsling and make an early mistake. The Metrodome will be filled w/a lot of Packer fans so home field won't be as huge. Minny will shut down the run but I don't think GB will force the issue. Expect a lot of short passes. Key match-up will be TE Finley against Greenway. Greenway is good but I think Finley is the better athlete and will have a good game. I'm hoping GB doesn't choose to "go after Favre" and instead focuses on the run and giving Favre a lot of different looks. He has shown he has issues against the 3-4. It seems like most cappers are focusing on GB's weaknesses which are many, particularly the OL, and not bringing up the Vikings weaknesses. The Minny secondary is nothing special and their OL is overrated. Look for Kampan and a very underrated Johnny Jolly to have great games. I hope to see McCarthy make some adjustments to help give Rodgers more time. TE Donald Lee is a good blocking tight end and I hope they use a lot of double TE sets. I think Rodgers is accurate enough to pick apart the secondary with one less route runner and more time.

So again, Green Bay has weaknesses particulary on OL and defense but I think a lot of the defensive issues are the new 3-4 scheme which I think will improve as the season progresses, hopefully, showing some good progress tonight. Even in Favre's prime he would throw 2-3 errant passes per game so GB needs to capitalize and not drop any picks.

Green Bay +5 2 units

Good luck mallers.

Good luck GW. Your analysis makes me feel better about wanting to be on the other side of the Minny/Favre hype this week.

You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special.” ---Jim Valvano
