Griz NFLX Week 1 Monday Night

YTD: 2-0 / +4.00 units

As always all plays are two units or two percent of bankroll.

NY Jets 1st Half -1 -110

The Giants come into this overhyped preseason match-up with a laundry list of injuries most notably on the offensive side of the ball. The most critical being two interior offensive lineman, Snee and Seubert. Against the Jets attacking 34 defense rooting out the nose tackle is critical to accomplishing anything offensively and missing both starting guards, also a key reserve in Boothe, will make that job nearly impossible for the shorthanded Giants offensive line.

Emotionally it is quite obvious who wants this game more. The Jets and Rex Ryan plan on playing their starters at least a series longer than the Giants, they will be inducting six players into their Hall of Fame at halftime, including Namath, and they have been spewing that New York and the new stadium is their town now.

With the obvious larger will to win and the major advantages created by the Giants injuries look for the Jets to dominate the majority of the first half but only the first half. They have issues in the depth department that make this play a first half only wager.

Under 33.5 NYG/NYJ -105

As stated above I expect the Jets and their defense to dominate the majority of the first half of this game. Once the starters come out the storyline reverses. The Giants have probably the deepest defensive line unit in the NFL, while the Jets have almost no quality depth behind their starting five offensive linemen. You lose in the trenches you don't move the ball regardless of your skilled position players, a fact often overlooked.

Also contributing to the value of the under is both coaches infatuation with, as Rex Ryan would say, "ground and pound". Running the ball is always a major part of the game plan with these two and tonight will be no different but with the major advantages that the defensive fronts will have in this game the ground game will not be easy to establish. Run the ball, the clock keeps moving, the game shortens, and points come at a premium.

The combination of these two elements make the Under a very solid play.

**A word of caution, no matter what you play tonight. Both of these clubs have major issues in the special teams department and don't be shocked if they are the deciding factor in how the money changes hands tonight.

Split. The first went according to plan but too many big plays for the second to hit. 1-1 -.10 on the night.
