Harrison fined $20K for late hit on Brees...yinz bastards!

Harrison fined $20K for late hit on Brees day after meeting
CBSSports.com wire reports
Nov. 4, 2010
PITTSBURGH -- Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been fined $20,000 for a late hit on Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Harrison has now been fined three times by the NFL this season for a total of $100,000. The hit on Brees came in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints.

He was previously fined $75,000 for his helmet hit Oct. 17 on Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, a penalty handed out during the week the NFL adopted its tougher stance on hits to the head and neck.

Harrison also was fined $5,000 for a hard hit on Titans quarterback Vince Young on Sept. 19.

The latest fine was given to Harrison two days after he met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss the NFL's stricter policy. Afterward, Harrison termed Tuesday's meeting "semi-productive."

If the hit in question is the one I am thinking of, it may have been late, but not worthy of a fine. He got flagged, cost his team yardage & a first down, I think that was severe enough. I believe they could be using him to make an example for the rest of the league.

Didn't learn ? He is labeled. penalizing the team was all they needed to do. The Commish is turning the NFL into a skirt league. Love what Troy has to say about the Commish and the new rules. He doesn't speak up much so I am sure the Commish was listening. According to what Troy says he knows the Commish heard what players thought. Just put skirts on all of them and get it over with. Funny how back in the 70's with not half as good equipment you could rip peoples heads off. Now they wear all this new gear and they are worried about hits. If they weren''t paying the players so much an making so much this would not be an issue.

Funny how much more we know about head injuries than we did in the 70s. Change with the times or get this animal out of the league

lol no sense in comparing eras in any sport, it's really dumb.

there is NO comparison, in almost any level of the game, in pretty much any of the 4 major sports. whether it be science, technology, natural progression, better athletes, there is just no comparing "back in the 70's" to football in 2010. none.

lol guys used to stay in games with concussions. i'm sure a lot of them now wish they wouldn't.

every couch potato in america wants to act like football has gone soft. calling finely tuned athletes pussies while they gorge through nachos with 9 levels of shit on them

So they made the Hines Ward rule last year. No hitting DB's.
Now the James Harrison rule, you can't hit to hard.
NFL control.
