Home teams winning at near record clip

Home teams this year have won games SU at a 63.5% clip. USA Today says if the home teams maintain this pace, it would be the second highest winning percentage for home teams since 1970.

The highest was 1985 when home teams won at a 64.3% clip.

And we do know that if you can pick the team that wins the game, more times than not, that team will be covering the spread

4 was a great number to attract Indy money.

Hi Gerk,

I have an Excel spreadsheet I created that has 10+ years worth of NFL regular season spreads, scores, totals, etc.

My data shows me that home teams have won games straight up at a 62.93% clip, as of the date of your post.

I realize we're only talking about a difference of slightly more than .5% but our percentages should, of course, be exact. I'm just wondering if my data is incorrect or if yours is.

I show 73 home teams winning, out of 116 games played.

Welcome to the Mall Ed,

My info was from the local paper here in Minneapolis. This was part of their article, so it's possible there numbers are wrong and yours are correct, I haven't personally kept tab of it.

After Monday night's game, home teams are winning at a 63.5 percent clip. According to USA Today, if the home teams maintain that pace, it would be the second-highest winning percentage for home teams since 1970. The best home winning percentage during that time was 64.3 percent in 1985.
