How Bad is Merriman's Knee?

Aparently bad enough to either really hurt his style of play, or keep him out for the rest of the season, according to the San Diego and Miami rags. It was all the rage on the San Deigo Sports Stations yeaterday. To properly heel, he needs reconstructive surgery, which takes 9 months to recover from. It seems that the only question is whether he risks playing on it this year, causing further damage but limiting the time he misses by having the surgery as soon as his season ends, or having the surgery now and losing this season.

Funny how RJB has conviently left this topic off of his table. What about it RJB. Any comment?

He is done for the season and will not play. Doctors are telling him he needs to have the knee completely redone. At the moment rjb is busy trying to find a surgeon for the job. He will most likely check in when he finds the right doctor for his boy.

Surely you jest. Just who is going to replace Merriman? They are so afraid of losing L.T. that they do not dare play him in pre-season. That is how injury prone he is, and they have no one to back him up now. Gates is being prayed for because the Chargers have no one else to throw the ball to. I thought that the Chargers were a good bet to win it all this year, and were a lock to win more than 10 games, but they are so THIN, that I am having my doubts now.

you didnt know ladanian never plays in preseason?

and they are deep at LB in general, guys are going to have to adjust. This is the NFL injuries happen, we have some of the best linebackers in the league still with Phillips and Wilheim and quality vets like Derek Smith Marques Harris and Steven Cooper to fill in.

most teams will have either their sack guy or their run stopper get hurt this year, its the NFL. remember?
