he's not so much better, but he's better. better winning percentage, better qb rating, better td/int ratio, tougher conference...plus u get a pro bowl kicker and 3 time pro bowl lb...and some guy saying giants got better of the deal is comical

i have no problem with the guy saying the giants got the better QB because he got them to the super bowl

But to say they got the better of the deal right now is laughable....three starting players to one. Now if Eli gets them to a few super bowls and the chargers make none, only THEN could you say the giants got the better deal overall

Guy has no idea what he is talking about...

If San Diego contacted New York in the offseason and said we'll give you Rivers, Merriman and Kaeding for Manning he would have the paperwork in the fax machine so fast it would make his head spin. Both are pretty even QB's right now so why wouldn't you take a good young kicker and a great young Linebacker?

lmao. got to agree with rjb here...rivers better than manning; however rivers development had to be easier with the talent around him allowing him to succeed more often. very importatn for a young QB to not have to carry the team by himself.
one note... rjb, you are right about everything you say above, rivers is better conference, but in the worst division. so if i had to compare i think eli faces better teams more often than chargers do. IMO, eagles, dallas, and redskins, are much tougher than KC, OAK, and Denver... no?

kc, oak and den defenses all pretty good imo, they just have shit offenses...i'd say they're about the same or better than dallas, phi, wash. Rivers does have more talent around him than Eli, but his numbers could be higher if he was allowed to throw first and run 2nd like Eli, and Eli in his 4th season of play, rivers just finished the 2nd season. Too early too tell right now, but obv i will say rivers has showed more upside. Eli getting to the super bowl is really a non argument...the fact is the chargers, colts and pats would all be the best team in the nfc and the chargers just happened to play the pats 1 game before the giants. if the roles were switched, the chargers would be in the sb vs pats and giants would be home

i have to disagree with you on the strength of your division. i disagree, and without looking ats tats or rankings, just my impression is that nfc east better defenses overall than afc west defenses. also better offense. if it was division vs division, nfc would win at least 9 games, afc would win 6 games with 4 coming from SD. I am not talking about numbers, you cant deny its easier to improve when you have an established running game and top noth TE. If rivers passed first and ran 2nd then you wouldnt have made the playoffs.. as it showed in the first 4 weeks of the season.
And yes, if the roles were reversed, SD would have made it to the SB as they would have beat the same teams giants beat.

1. All 3 of those teams have higer ranked pass defenses than any team in the NFC East

2. Eli had tiki barber, plaxico burress and jeremy shockey...not exactly a crew of practice squad guys

3. They would have made the playoffs, once rivers and norv got a feel for each other they started blowing up. See the playoffs where they lit it up through the air without LT and Gates

Oakland had a brutal run D, so did Denver. KC was brutal entirely. None the less, the artical isnt even trying to make the point that eli is better than rivers, its trying to tell us that eli is worth kaeding, rivers, AND merriman. I understand these guys are trying to get feedback and create a buzz or whatever when they write these articles, but this is stupid. Wasting people's time to read it and just giving some half wit in New York a reason to feel like that trade wasnt completely lop-sided.

It's unbelievable! Eli has a few good games and is all of sudden a god! Congrats to him for getting the Giants to the SB, and he did play well these playoffs, but his numbers this season were not good once again!! He completes just over 50% of his passes (which is horrible) and his TD to INT ratio is almost even (Not good either). People are so short sided it is funny!! Four good games (including the NE regular season game) and he is all of a sudden better than Rivers, Merriman, and Kaeding!!
