It's draft day, and you're the GM...

...of your favourite team (for me, the Broncos). Based on your personal assessment of your team's needs, what do you draft first?

Me, I know we need defensive help, but I look at the line first. We have the smallest defensive line in football, so we need a large, powerful presence there. I know BFD mentioned Cushing from USC, but he's a LB. I would like DT or DE first, unless that kid could be interchangeable. Putting all the Cutler bullshit aside, I say defense is the #1 priority.

What about you guys? Who would you pick?

Defense is a priority no doubt and the Broncos need it at all angles. Comparing the DE and DTs with LB, there is more talent and less chance of a bust from the group out of USC than there is on the D line imo....

If the Cowboys still had their pick at #20, Id most likely want a WR. But they addressed that issue with that pick.

Id also like to see them go get a Safety but no one would be there that would warrant a pick.

Id like to see them get some youth at QB too in the later rounds

You're probably right. Plus you never know, you could draft a gem in the later rounds for the "D" line. That's the beauty of the draft - it's longer than 1 round.

As a Charger fan,
I go one of two ways, either LB (they did sign Burnett) so that helps or I would go RT if their are one of the 4 guys left. Second round I would look for a safety to play alongside Weddle.

Other options would be a DE with Olshansky gone or a DT to help replace Big Jamal as he gets up there in age.

I'm the Chicago Bears, and I draft at 18. The first thing I do is look at the board and see how things go after the first 4 or 5 picks. I need a lot, but I need a QB more than anything else. No use in drafting a real good WR when I have no one to get him the ball. I have two QB's and neither have been good. If someone wants to trade down after the 5th or 6th pick, I will consider it to take Sanchez. If not, and he goes, I probably take Freeman. If both QB's are gone, I go to the defensive side of the ball and pick up a CB that I need. I gamble and hope that Vontae Davis is the real deal, and develops a good mental attitude towards the game.

Green Bay Packers

1) I would have first signed Chris Canty to start at DE opposite Cullen Jenkins, therefore expanding my options in the draft.

The Packers needs are in this order:

OLB/DE - GB has one of the worst pass-rushes in the league
NT - Everybody knows the 3-4 is only as good as its nose tackle
OT - Clifton is getting old and Tausher is injured
OG - This would allow Darryn Colledge to move to RT

This draft is tricky. If BJ Raji falls, GB should jump on him. If not, they have to weigh the options between OT Michael Oher, OT Andre Smith, DE Everett Brown and DE Aaron Mayben (assuming DE Brian Orakpo is gone).
