I plan on evaluating all NFL teams at the end of each month and posting Power Rankings. Unlike NCAA Football rankings, these are based off of performance so far this season and not potential. I am just listing my Power Rankings this month. I decided to go with 16 teams this time around.
For next month, I will have the list cut down to 10. I will also factor in Super Bowl potential and explanations of each ranking. NFL Power Rankings: 1. New York Giants 3-0 2. Baltimore Ravens 3-0 3. New York Jets 3-0 4. Minnesota Vikings 3-0 5. New Orleans Saints 3-0 6. Denver Broncos 3-0 7. Cincinnati Bengals 2-1 8. Indianapolis Colts 3-0 9. New England Patriots 2-1 10. Green Bay Packers 2-1 11. Chicago Bears 2-1 12. San Francisco 49ers 2-1 13. San Diego Chargers 2-1 14. Atlanta Falcons 2-1 15. Dallas Cowboys 2-1 16. Philadelphia Eagles 2-1 Teams looking to bust through in October: Cards (1-2) and Steelers (1-2) need to pick it up fast if they want to make the Super Bowl again. Seahawks have been the most impressive (1-2) NFC team so far this season. In the other conference, the Bills have been the most impressive 1-2 AFC team that needs to make a stronger push in October. For those that are strong supporters of the AFC South 1-2 teams; its a long road ahead. All of your teams have beat up on each other, but have not really had any impressive wins outside of your conference. On top of that, those who believe the Titans sitting at 0-3 are just plays away from being 3-0. Their odds are even stacked higher against them now. There have only five teams that have ever made the playoffs after starting 0-3. I am pretty sure we can stick a fork in the Titans and Dolphins seasons. Last years playoffs were short lived for each, and will not be continuing again this season.

Quote:
The Saints defense has really been superb this season. It seems Greg Williams is making a real big impact there. Rex Ryan seems to be making a great impact with the Jets. The defense is playing great too. They are flying around making sacks and getting INTs this season. Vikings have always had great Offensive and Defensive lines, now they got Favre at the helm. They have not been tested on the road yet though. Ravens and Giants just look like the early superbowl matchup until they show signs of tripping up. So top 5? Depends if any of those 5 trip up... But I would say even if Colts and Broncos improve to 4-0 this week, I would place Chargers ahead of them with a win in Pittsburgh. And yes, DSI gives me a nice kickback.

To further build on the top. I forgot when typing that, they Jets are @ Saints this Sunday.
So with either of them losing. I might place Chargers ahead of them ... It will be tough though... Cause it may cause me to place the Bengals in the top 5 cause their defense is looking really tough this season too. A Cowboys win @ Denver might place Cowboys up there too. However, as typing that above... I forgot Dallas was @ Denver. So with a Denver win over Dallas. That would propel them into the top 5 possibly. Anyhow... There's a lot of what-if's... so most likely, chargers would just be top 10... They still need some more work... Had they handled business at home versus the Ravens, they would be top team in the rankings; no questions.
