Why does Detroit kick a field goal for a back door cover when your down 17 with less then 4 minutes?

I was lucky enough to have -14 for a push, but alot of folks got fuked!
Hard to believe that some games are not on the fix when that crap happens.

well either way you look at it, they are down 3 scores, so useless to score a td if you cant get fg later on..but to answer your question..money.

Down 17 at some point you need a fg to tie the game. They had 4th and long but were well within fg range. You take the fg to go down 2 tds. Had NOTHING to do with a backdoor cover or anything involved the lines or gambling. They were making the right football decision in regards to winning/tying up the game. I mean this is pretty basic no fix situation what so ever.

There was 4 minutes left they still had 3 timeouts and the 2 minute warning. By kicking it deep you stop them use 3 timeouts still have 3+ minutes to go down and get the 1st td with decent field position after the stop. You can kick the first onside kick but even if you stop them you need to go 90+ or put them in range for a long fg in which you have no chance because your back down 3 scores.
