McGahee's hit, a no call???

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. McGahee. Secondly, I had a small wager on the over (which already hit) so this comment has nothing to do with the outcome of a wager.

I have seen so many tic tac, grab ass, bs "hit to the helmet" calls throughout the season it made me sick, and always given the explanation that a hit to the helmet is a penalty regardless of the situation. After seeing all that, here is actually a blatant helmet to helmet hit that resulted in a severe injury(precisely why the rule is in place), and it doesn't draw a flag which seriously could have affected the outcome of the game. I mean, he fumbled the ball because he was knocked unconscious due to the illegal hit. I'm sure that the hit was not intentional but neither are the majority of them that are called. Intentions are not part of the rule from what I understand. Am I missing something here, if so, please educate me.

All replies appreciated>

That kinda shit happen when you come to Pittsburgh runnin your mouth.
I hope he is well but the clean hit made my night. He got his millions and earned it today. He is okay, they take extra precautions so it looks worse. He got his bell rung for his team making negative comments.

You have got to be kidding me. It's people like you that give Steeler fans a bad name. Just when I was starting to respect your fans you come out and make a statement like that. How can a hit like that make your night? He could have really hurt his neck, head or spine. I guess different people have different morals. Your opinion is your opinion.

Not sure he has morals with a post like that, Snipes. Well said.

the announcers at the time (and Boomer this morning) said it was a clean hit.

When Willis regains his senses, we can ask him whether the groundhog saw his shadow or not, cause he got knocked into next month on that hit.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

I was worried about Mcgahee after watching the hit, so I replayed it on my dvr. In slow-motion, it looked like he saw the hit coming and turned his head to the right. The Steeler player was leading with his pads but when Mcgahee turned he did end up hitting helmet to helmet just above the earhole. I didn't think his intentions were to hit helmet 2 helmet but, it was.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but I was being honest...I loved the hit and its a part of the game. It was an accidental collision of helmets. He will be fine. We don't like Baltimore much around these parts!

Ravens running back Willis McGahee, injured in a helmet to helmet clash during his teams 23-14 AFC championship loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday should be OK according to doctors.

McGahee is resting at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with movement in all his limbs and was “neurologically intact,” a spokesman said.

He was injured after catching an 11-yard pass from quarterback Joe Flacco late in the fourth quarter. McGahee was immediately hit by Steelers safety Ryan Clark, whose shoulder and helmet collided with McGahee’s face mask. McGahee was stretchered from the field and it was feared he may have suffered a severe spinal injury.

bcgal, I have been a Steelers fan since the early 70's and one thing that I love about them is you know that each week they are going to bring it. They are going to let the other team know they were in a REAL football game.
I hated to see that hit even though I love hard hitting. I hate seeing any player laying on the ground after a hit like that. Its not even a question if it was a clean hit. Its the part of the game that scares me for every NFL player. I will never forget the hit on Darrel Stingly (sp). I pray that he is ok and gets out of the hospital soon.
BC, your comments scared me, really now those were harsh words for a guy laying in a hospital with pressure on his spine. Please keep this real and remember that we could have lost Clark on that same play. Granted its a collusion filled game but no one wants anyone to not be able to walk away. God Speed for a safe and fast recovery.

Yes, these are good points Steel, and I apologize if members were offended by my post. I was a bit drunk and aggressive in my post game celebration last night. I am truly glad that he will recover.
