Minnesota signs Antoine Winfield to extension

Thought they might let him go, but still probably top pound for pound tackler in NFL. Good to see at least one Minnesota team step up

The Minnesota Vikings have signed Antoine Winfield to a five-year extension worth $36 million, including $16 million in guarantees.
"It's a great feeling," Winfield said. "It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
"A player of my age (32) doesn't want to go into a season without a deal done. It gives me more security. It gives me a chance to go out there and play without thinking, with a clear mind."
He was due to make $6 million in the final year of his six-year, $34 million contract.
Winfield said he ultimately wanted to remain a Viking.
"I really do enjoy playing for this organization. I enjoy my teammates. The coaches. I like the city," he said. "There's a respect that the Vikings showed. They didn't have to do this. I still had a year under my contract. But I wanted to be here, and they wanted me here, and that's why we got a deal done."
Winfield said the strength of the Vikings roster also made the decision easier. "I know the potential," he said. "We have a great core. As I heard, we're all under contract for a few more years."

For him he has to be a good tackler because of how many receptions he gives up, can't let those guys walk in for a td after turning him inside out and making the catch, lol!!!

Kirk, I know it's our tendency to lash out at someone and the things around them when they leave us, but he's not coming back to Buffalo

We need to all move on

With the plays he makes and his presence on the field, not many CB's I would take over him, but I guess I"m biased.

Love how hard he plays and he is definitely a tank at tackling but his coverage skills in my opinion have always been not that great and when I am looking for a shutdown corner that is the first thing I am looking for. Now put him at safety different story. Actually didn't mind seeing him leave my Bills when he signed back then, he wasn't going to make the difference whether the Bills were going to see the playoffs again in my lifetime or not, LOL!!!
