I think outdoor football in Minnesota will be alot of fun. I am a BIG fan of watching football outdoors, as the elements make the game even more exciting. To me, watching games in a dome aren't as fun or exciting, then again, that could be just me.

I agree, LordCC. A hark back to the Purple People Eater days.....I remember watching those NFL playoff games between the Vikes and Niners with the two Gene Washington receivers.

There are 16 teams this week that are playing away games and therefore there are 16 stadiums available to play at this week, and without checking I would guess most do not require that 3 foot snow drifts that have been in place for a week be removed, an entire stadium de-winterized and a group of prep guys stressed to the max for a week...on top of over $1million cost for snow removal..because it has to be done by hand.

Yes, I'm a bears guy so there's a bias but look, the Giants got to play in a neutral site and yes, it was an advantage, but the NFL manages to still have a good product afterwards.

Seems like an awful lot of work and expense to make sure that a team with absolutely no chance at the playoffs gets to play a game close to home...the Bears hardly even played a game last week, almost was like a bye week how they didn't show up. Seems wasteful to me.

and to flame it up a bit those p****** in Minnesota that had to build a dome in the first place...seriously just leave the division along with the lions, dome teams in the north, total weakness

Vikes have BIG celebration..50 years of something.

This college stadium was not built for cold weather..imagine that...30 degree temps were lowest..bathroom pipes are shut down, and all consessions the same..no beer or alcohol will be served..63,000 tix sold, seats 50K..game time temps expected to be 7 degrees

The field is not equiped for and defrosting..no electrical heating elements

This might be the solution

have that jagoff Brett give a speech about his streak and how great he is and all that hot air should keep those 50,000 fannies in the stands warm

I hope he plays

Maybe it is me, but I remember them playing a game in Green Bay about 3 years ago in the playoffs where it was BITTER cold. It was the game against the Giants, and we all thought Coughlin's face was going to fall off as it was so cold. I am sure the field was as frozen as anything could ever be & they still played the game.

To me, I don't see any reason why they can't play the game there, as I think it will be an amazing atmosphere. Whether it is very cold or not, it is football & you schedule games at this time of year, so expect cold weather.

Besides, who builds a brand new stadium & not have it built for cold weather, that sounds ludicrous to me.
