Mnf Game Of The Month

Split with my picks yesterday thanks to Houston's inability to score a touchdown despite being within 5 yards of the goal line at least three times...but today is a new day.

I'm bucking the public, and am going to play San Diego tonight as my Monday Night Football Game of the Month for September.

First of all, San Diego is pissed about last week's infamous overturned fumble. I believe Philip Rivers and Tomlinson/Sproles will mix and match run and pass plays the same way Dallas did against Green Bay last night. This will not only allow the Chargers to move the ball and put up some points, but it will tire the Jets' defense which has to travel from one corner of the country to the other to a hostile environment. I know that "must win" situations are hyped way too much, but San Diego will use its extra day of preparation to perplex the Jets, on both sides of the ball.

Secondly, the public (according to numbers I've seen) is roughly 66% on the Jets, yet the line is creeping up. I think most bettors see the +8 1/2 and think it's a great value, but I see this as Vegas' way of drawing more of the public in on the wrong side.

Thirdly, there's the Favre factor. I believe that if Pennington is still playing, this line would be around -13 in favor of San Diego. The media is in love with Favre, and how he "comes to play" on MNF. I'll admit, this guy is one of the best to play the game...only now he has no supporting cast. His top receiver in Laverneous Coles is not only nursing a leg injury, but is upset about the change at QB. I see the Chargers jumping out to a quick league, and this will force Favre to throw and throw often--this is when he starts forcing the ball and there should be plenty of turnovers.

After all's said and done, I see the Chargers getting their first win of the season, 38-13.

San Diego 20*
San Diego first half 10*

Good luck all!

Thanks Money$$$$...by the way for all interested, I got the Chargers line at -8 1/2 for the game, and -5 1/2 first half.
