Mock Draft 4.0
well let me first say that this first round is going to have trades galore and this draft will prob not even be close... with that being said......here it is
1. Miami Dolphins- Jake Long, OT, Michigan Previous: Chris Long I guess I was wrong here. Knew Chirs Long was in line if Jake Long fell through and now its clear why Ireland started sandbagging us with the defense “slip” so Jake Long would sign. Sneaky Bill. 2. St Louis Rams- Chris Long, DE, Virginia Previous: Jake Long Well it’s between Long and Dorsey here and I think the Rams are leaning towards Dorsey. Ive heard the management likes Long and the staff likes Dorsey so we’ll see where it goes. I think they should take Long since they moved Carriker inside, but I have this feeling its Dorsey. I also heard the Saints are interested in getting up here for Dorsey. 3. Atlanta Falcons- Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU Previous: Matt Ryan The Falcons really like Dorsey he’s #1 on their draft board. So assuming he’s here I believe they’ll shy away from Matt Ryan and take Brohm with one of their early second round picks. They might have to trade up with the Rams and secure Dorsey. 4. Oakland Raiders- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas Previous: Same Word out of Oakland is Al Davis is NOT interested in drafting Chris Long, so if some reason he is here I think McFadden is still the pick. Al Davis loves McFadden and his big play ability and I think he goes here. 5. Kansas City Chiefs- Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College Previous: Sedrick Ellis Well I think he’ll go in this spot, not necessarily to the Chiefs, but maybe to someone trading up like Baltimore, Carolina, or Chicago. If the Chiefs don’t get out of this spot I think they’ll have a lot of options to consider between Clady, Gholston, Ryan, and Ellis, probably in that order. This is where the draft gets interesting. 6. New York Jets- Vernon Gholston- DE, Ohio State Previous: Same Well the Jets are really going to be sitting here basically having to wait and see what plays out before them. If the draft plays out this way they definitely select Gholston 7. New England Patriots- Keith Rivers, LB, USC Previous: Same Semi-shocker here as Rivers goes a few spots higher than projected. If the Patriots don’t trade out of this pick I think they’ll inject youth into a AARP linebacking group. Rivers is a pretty safe bet at this point for the Patriots. I think come draft day I can see a team like Carolina trading up to this pick to snag Matt Ryan, however we will see. Either way this pick will be interesting. 8. Baltimore Ravens- Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State Previous: Mike Jenkins Well assuming they are still in this spot I hear they definitely like Clady over Albert. If Matt Ryan makes it past Atlanta, I think they will be making a play for him at 5. . 9. Cincinnati Bengals- Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC Previous: Ryan Clady Well this ends up being the dream scenario for Cincinnati. Ellis is extremely talented and he fits the need of this defense. 10. New Orleans Saints- Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy Previous: Same The Saints are a team that can can be very active here as far as trading up and down. I think with the players left on the board the Saints should look towards taking a CB here if they stay in this spot. I think McKelvin is the best CB in the draft and can help in the return game as well. If Rivers or Ellis were available, they would be better fits. 11. Buffalo Bills- Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida Previous: Same I believe the Bills will take one of the premier corners in this draft and select Jenkins. I’ve heard however they like Harvey too so he could slip into this spot. 12. Denver Broncos- Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt Previous: Same The Broncos should look to protect Jay Cutler here with a top OL prospect. Chris Williams is a beast and should fit nice into Denver’s run blocking. Its being reported they like Clady so they might consider trading up for him, but I doubt it. 13. Carolina Panthers- Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida Previous: Same If Harvey gets past Buffalo the Panthers should be very excited to get him here. Rucker is gone and replacing him with a player who can step in right away is very necessary for the Panthers. 14. Chicago Bears- Branden Albert, G, Virginia Previous: Same This guys draft stock has risen, and with the Bears need for OT and G he’s a perfect fit here. I think the Bears will try to get into the late first round and address their QB needs with Henne. 15. Detroit Lions- Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois Previous: Same Im really high on Mendenhall and if the Lions pass on him with their RB situation right now I’ll be shocked. This kid is a power back and will be a great addition to their offense. I have him ranked slightly behind McFadden and personally wouldn’t mind my Cowboys making a play for him, but they wont. 16. Arizona Cardinals- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State Previous: Same Regardless if its Rodgers-Cromartie or Talib left in this spot the Cardinals need to add to their secondary. I think Rodgers-Cromartie is the better of the two so I’d take him here. Talib’s stock is falling due to the fact he admitted testing positive a few times for marijuana. 17. Kansas City Chiefs- Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson Previous: Same Well it seems like no matter what team is at 17 Phillip Merling is going here. The Chiefs have a need to fill Allens spot at defensive end and Merling should do the trick. The Cheifs could also address their OT position, which I think is their biggest need, depending on what they do with their previous pick. 18. Houston Texans- Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas Previous: Same Texans definitely need to address the secondary here and Talib is the last of the elite corners left here and they should definitely snag him here. I think with this pick the Texans should look to draft defense here whether its Kenny Phillips or Jerod Mayo as well. 19. Philadelphia Eagles- Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt Previous: Same Well its no secret that the Eagles have glaring holes elsewhere, but they wont be able to pass on Otah here. He’s a big and quick prospect that will it perfect with the Eagles. I personally would address WR or S right here, but its not likely to happen. 20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State Previous: Same He’s rising on draft boards as the top WR and the Bucs definitely need some youth there. They could also use a CB but the four elite corners in the draft are gone and theres plenty of value in round two. 21. Washington Redskins- Calais Campbell, DE, Miami Previous: Same The Redskins have a glaring hole at DE and Campbell is the answer here. Big and powerful should be able to come in and hold is own right away. WR could also be a very strong option here with a guy like Kelly or Sweed. 22. Dallas Cowboys- Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas Previous: Limas Sweed Well I had Sweed here but listening to Jerry Jones press conference the other day, he pretty much said that they didn’t want to take on any projects with a first round pick and that he didn’t feel any of the WR’s in the draft were ready. So with that being said I think they’ll take Jones here to address RB. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something weird here that no one expects. 23. Pittsburgh Steelers- Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College Previous: Same Great OT pick right here and is perfect for the Steelers. He’s been here in my previous drafts and I still like him going here. I also like the option of taking Quentin Groves here and moving him to OLB in the 3-4. 24. Tennessee Titans- Limas Sweed, WR, Texas Previous: Kentwan Balmer If Limas Sweed is here you know VY will be calling his draft team saying “take him, take him!!!” and they should. Sweed is my top rated WR and he should be productive enough to make a difference his rookie season. I think hes a future #1. 25. Seattle Seahawks- Kentwan Balmer, DT, UNC Previous: Malcolm Kelly Well if Balmer is here I think the Seahawks will address their defense before offense. They need to strengthen their defensive line and Im not sure any of the receivers excite them to warrant a first round selection. 26. Jacksonville Jaguars- Kenny Phillips, S, Miami Previous: Same Kenny Phillips next to Reggie Nelson could be a nice duo for a long time at Safety. I had Groves here the first few drafts and he’s still a nice option at this point. 27. San Diego Chargers- Sam Baker, OT, USC Previous: Brandon Flowers The most likely situation is trading out but if they don’t I think they’ll grab a solid tackle prospect in Baker. I think they’ll end up waiting a few picks to address a 3rd corner. 28. Dallas Cowboys- Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech Previous: Felix Jones I heard today the Cowboys have their eye on Flowers right here and really like him as a solid CB for a long time. He could be the best pro CB in the draft but what scouts say are separating him from the elite four is his lack of explosiveness to make plays big plays. 29. San Francisco 49ers- Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn Previous: Same I really like Groves speed on the edge and he would be a good fit at OLB for their defense. They also could use a WR here but I think Groves has far more value. 30. Green Bay Packers- Atoine Cason, CB, Arizona Previous: Same Al Harris and Charles Woodson aren’t getting any younger, and the Packers need to start looking for a replacement. Cason has the intangible to be a dominating CB for a long time. I also like a TE to go here and almost put Keller in this slot. 31. New England Patriots- Pick Forfeited 32. New York Giants- Jerod Mayo, LB, Tennessee Previous: Same Mayo’s stock is rising and if he’s still here the Giants should definitely take him. He could probably step in opposite of Kiwanuka right away and contribute.

I dont like to predict trades as far as changing the teams draft order but just to clarify I think the ravens are going to jump to the 5 and new Orleans will probably jump to 7. The patriots will prob still get rivers too if that happens and the saints go after ellis. The ravens will obviously take Ryan and the chiefs will take clady at 8. Just my prediction which I kinda stated in my write up but wanted to clarify more.

Its a def possibilty but I think Atlanta is also high on dorsey and they have more to offer to ensure he is theirs than the saints. Although that situation is on the saints agenda

another little draft nugget and opinion from me. Cowboys have traded Anthony Fasano and Akin Ayodele for a mere 4th round pick to the dolphins???? huh????? seems like the cowboys are creating some cap room to make some type of move tomorrow. Vet receiver???McFadden??? Will be interesting to see.

i doubt theyll make a move for mcfadden but it makes sense that they might make a move for roy williams with a late 1st and the new 4th they aquired and maybe somehting else who knows. Jerry the GM is always a little unpredictable.....like trading two first rounders for joey galloway

I just heard that the Texans could possibly take stewart and may be shying away from talib as a 1st rounder because of off the field issues. i think this is the same for the cowboys as well as they could take stewart if hes there over talib if the other 3 "elite" corners are gone. It seems the club house is split between stewart and jones
