My 2009 NFL Future

Indianapolis Colts Under 10 wins

I do one large wager on a total in every pro sport. My theories that made me want to bet this:

1. Coaching changes to a team that has had more than several years of success almost always have a subpar season in the first season with new coach. Tom Moore leaving might be even more important than Dungy. The offensive Lines and Receivers coaches are new as well.

2. The Colts were 8-1 in the regular season in games decided by 7 pts or less, including several miracle comebacks, most notably the Houston game. And this was against a schedule that saw them play 10 out of 16 games against non-playoff teams. You always fade teams with this luck the following year.

3. They are coming off losses in their first playoff game the last 2 years. The franchise has no momentum going for them after the changes that took place coupled with the recent playoff disappointments. Good recipe to end the streak of 12+ wins that they have.

4. They are not as good in all 3 phases of the game compared to 2 or 3 years ago. The Special Teams are awful; had the worst 3rd down defense......Bob Sanders can't even play a full season anymore. Will continue to have one of the worst run defenses in a division that has MJD, Slaton, and the Titans studs. Manning is getting older, Harrison is gone, and Adaii seems to have permanently gone from top 5 back to not rated at all. Donald Little was a nice pick, but still just a rookie.

I really would be shocked if they won 11 games.

Totals that just missed the cut:

Chargers over
Texans over
Dolphins under
Giants under

Bonus futures:

Chargers 12-1
Chargers/Vikings Super Bowl 50-1
