My NFL rule change proposal regarding personal fouls
I've thought a lot about this, and over the years have gotten really frustrated with 15 yard penalties ruining the integrity of the game. I'd like to get your opinions.
Why should plays be negated by penalties that have absolutely nothing to do with the result of play on the field? Why should teams get "free" yards for the other team doing something that had no effect on the outcome of the play? Here are the rule changes I'd like to see: 1.) Personal fouls will NOT be yardage penalties. Instead, institute a cumulative foul system (similar to soccer, or basketball). For example, two personal fouls will eject a player for a predetermined amount of time (1 quarter, 1 game, etc.). 2.) Personal fouls will NOT negate the play. Example: A QB gets hit late on a play where he throws an interception. Why should that interception be negated? That's a huge game-changing play and you are messing with the integrity of the game by nullifying a huge play based on something that occured after the throw was made. Another example: A WR gets hit in the helmet by a DB after a ball gets tipped by the WR and gets intercepted. Again, why negate the interception when the hit has nothing to do with whether or not the ball got intercepted? This will apply to all personal or sportsmanship fouls which do not yield an advantage for the offending player/team on that given play -- roughing penalties, late hits, taunting, celebrations, etc. This will NOT apply to personal fouls which may yield an advantage for the offending player/team on that given play -- face mask, chop block, etc. Thoughts?

i agree totally and remove that pusssy rule b asked for By colts team after they got mauled by patriots in playoffs
the hands off after 5 yards rule ! Let them play the game of course once ball is thrown defender must give room to wr to make catch same goes for WR not allowed to push off and the hands grazing QB helmet stuff while trying to swipe the ball is just stoooooooooooopid ! plus if they going to call every breath or air on brady as roughing the QB 15 yrads then they better do it for all QB's in the NFL ! or rewrite that rule also ! BUT maybe NFL will listen when i write them about change the equipment if you want to stop the injuries remove steel cages from hel;mets make pads shock absorbing ! |

Agreed. And did you see the roughing the passer call on Houston on that final goal-to-go posession last night? Are you kidding me?
That's exactly what I'm talking about. These wishy-washy calls...worst case, let it affect players' eligibility to participate in the game by instituting a foul system. Don't let it affect the game itself by giving them four more shots at the end zone for free.

NO way in hell will Yates make it out of playoffs best record if they win week 17 is 11-5 thats #3 seed one home game no break probabaly lose to the stronger WC ! This kid is showing his inexperience that was playoff atmosphere football last night and if Coack K dosent realize it from that game and sticks with him kablewie texans ! |
