The new postseason rule states each team will get an overtime possession, unless the team receiving the opening kickoff scores a touchdown, in which case the game is ended. It is not sudden-death, however, if that team kicks a field goal. The other team will get a chance to match or surpass. If the other team also kicks a field goal, the game proceeds on a sudden-death basis.
