NFL admits botched call on illegal Favre hit

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vi.../82848712.html

how they could not have called this one is beyond me, sure it would have been called for brady or manning

what a joke

Yep should of been called but the facts are quite simple the Vikes didn't lose because of that non call(was personally shocked that it wasn't called because it was quite obvious) they lost because they fumbled the ball twice in the Saints 10 yard line, fumbled within their own 10 yard line giving the Saints a TD. Score tds on one of those two fumbles, don't let the Saints score off a fumble and the Vikes win this game without what happened at the end of the game with that interception or this non call interception.

I agree, I imagine it will start next season some time. Still stings right now. I don't understand why the NFL even bothers to admit they f ucked the call up, since there is zero recourse. The games don't get replayed, the saints still go to the superbowl, so it's just a mea culpa with no follow through.

As for the Sanchez call they obviously missed that as well, but his hit wasn't as brutal as the one Favre took after the handoff, or the obvious cheap shot directed at his knees.

I thought the NFL wanted to protect its star quarterbacks? If there is any Karma Breeze will take so much punishment in the SB that his disgusting facial mole will be needed to identify his battered corpse after the game.

I would be happier if they had lost to a better team, as opposed to giving the game away to an inferior one. But in the end it matters little.

I don't see how saints win this game, but I do have the colts straight up which should just about guarantee a NO victory, so you are probably on the right side ROMO!

if a qb hands the ball off, isnt trying to get a block, and is out of the play

thats def an unsportsmanlike, not sure of exact name of penalty but it def is one

One of the reasons why the NFL is in my opinion the top of all the major NA sports leagues is because they will come out afterwards and say they screwed up. Other leagues would simply hide out until it went away and would never sit there and say they could make a mistake. The NFL does this quite a bit and by admitting it they set themselves up to make sure they are more aware the next time. You are right it doesn't help this game but I am more interested in hearing a league say they screwed up and hopefully do something about it than to sit there and say he we never make a mistake, lol!!

there are missed calls every game, this just happened to be on a big stage. human mistakes are what makes sports better.

what's the word I'm looking for, not human mistakes, human...
