The Ravens and Steelers have over the past few years developed one of the toughest and closest fought rivalries in the NFL – competitive and physical are two words that spring readily to mind about their clashes. That can’t be said of their seasonal opener though when the Ravens clearly hadn’t read the script of past matches (which were usually decided by seven points or less) with the Steelers very much holding the advantage in results over their divisional rivals. The Ravens ran out 35-7 winners, the biggest win for Baltimore since the rivalry began in 1996. That Ravens win was presumed to have set the tone for the season with Baltimore remaining in the ascendancy and the Steelers struggling to regain their swagger of the past few years.
