It took a while but the Colts finally won a game, recording a 27-13 success over the Tennessee Titans to remove the zero from the wins column. Whether they can make it a two with a victory over the Texans is another matter. The pressure, to a certain extent, is off the Colts now and they can start planning for next season, while the playoff-bound Texans will be looking for another win to secure a first-round bye rather than having to host a potentially dangerous side in the wild-card round.

To do so the Texans will have to bounce back from a confidence-sapping home defeat by the Carolina Panthers on Sunday when they were beaten 28-13. That was their first loss in more than two months as Houston finally brought to an end the Colts’ domination of the division. Of course, with superstar quarterback Peyton Manning out injured, we were always likely to see a changing of the guard this year. With Manning under centre, Indianapolis had won seven of the past eight South titles and made the playoffs in all nine years since the division was created in 2002 (Houston’s inaugural season).
