NFL Betting: Super Bowl 2012 – Five bets for the big one
It’s easy to get caught up In the razzmatazz of the self-styled Greatest Show On Turf. People are falling over themselves to offer many and varied markets in order to attract your business and it’s hard to resist the urge to broaden your usually wise and narrow portfolio. “C’mon, it’s the Super Bowl. Only happens once a year,” goes the old Christmas-consumer type rationale. But we should be careful not to make too many exceptions lest they become the rule.
That said, sorting the wheat from the chaff isn’t too difficult. Firstly, there’s old faithful, the Vegas Money Line, which sets the handicap between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants at a field goal. Super Bowls are often tight affairs, one might opine. Fair enough – in four of the last ten Super Bowls, the protagonists have been separated by three points or fewer – but the previous ten all saw the final scoreboard register a winning margin of more than a field goal.
