i understand my team lost in OT tonight, but after watching that...then watching the Akron - Buffalo 4OT game it just got me thinking which is the better way to win or lose a game. Plus the excitement level for the teams and fans?

thoughts?

college... thought this for a while now.

NFL system is tarded.. hate seeing teams that deserve to win lose because of a coin toss. As for tonight's game it seemed like the jets deserved it.

Both should get the ball. Forces teams to make tougher decisions like whether or not a FG will be good enough or having to go for a TD. Creates excitment and fair play IMO. But Im not on board with the idea lol

Im sure the NFL would never go for it. TV time would be an issue so some games may get punked off the air during multiple OTs. And who wants to watch a longer game of football if and when that sort of thing happens.

I was introduced to variance once. That's exactly the time I stopped betting over my head.

Ontop of a BCS playoff, this would be an astounding change if it were to happen.

Maybe if they started the possessions at the 40 yard line so if there was a good defensive stop they would have to go for a 40-50 yd field goal instead of the chip shots if they started at the 20, otherwise the games could go on for ever and would make all of those "over" bettors win every single OT game

will never happen - TV contracts want games over in 3 hours - so they don't run over the others...

agreed. make it so no team can win on a feild goal. it would even be ok if the game is won on a safety

Make 'em win by 4.
You can kick a FG if you want, but then you gotta play some D, get the ball back and kick another one. Or go get a TD.

OT should just be another half quarter of play. Coin flip to determine who gets ball, play for 7:30, whoever wins at the end, wins the game. Extra time if necessary.

leave it as is. defense is part of the game (if you lose the toss play some) i would like to see pass interference changed to 15 yards though to many garbage calls against the defense especially when a manning is throwing the ball.
