Exclamation NFL Top Play Write Up

New York Giants -7 @ Seattle

It's confirmed that Matt Hasselbeck is out this week with concussion symptoms. Charlie Whitehurst will make his first career start. He's up agaist a NYG defense that is giving up the fewest (4.4) yards per play in the NFL this season. The Giants also have a strong run D ranked 3rd this year. So Seattle will have to put the ball in Whitehurst's hands to try to win this game. Whitehurst has had 2 NFL regular season career pass attempts, so we will discuss his college career and preseason. Coming out of college Whitehurst had a 18 TD to 27 INT ratio during his 2 years at Clemson. His preseason numbers are not that impressive this year, with most of his snaps coming agaist 2nd and 3rd string defenses. He completed 51% of his passes while throwing 4 TD's and 4 INT's. The NYG's 2nd ranked overall D is only allowing 263 ypg (4.4 ypp). Seattle's 26th ranked D is allowing 368 ypg (5.5 ypp.) The Giants offense is tied for second in the league averaging 5.9 ypp and 3rd in total offense (388 ypg.) Eli has been holding the Giants back this year throwing 11 INT's. The Giants should be able to play with a lead throughout in this game taking pressure off Eli and using a strength will Ahmad Bradshaw who ranks 4th in the NFL in rushing with 708 yards (5.3 ypc.) NYG has outgained 4 of its 7 opponents by over 200 yards. The Giants should have no problem covering by a touchdown in this spot.

Does it make you nervous that the pre-injury line and the post-injury line are the same? I think this is the "if it looks to good to be true..." play of the week. Good luck tho.
