NFL's Most Disappointing and Surprising Teams
Here is my take on the NFL's most disappointing and surprising teams for this past season:
AFC. Most Disappointing. Cleveland Browns. The Browns finished dead last in their division with a 4-12 record. They did not score an offensive TD in their last 6 games, and did not score at all in their last 2 games. Crennell, who never had full control over this team, lost everything when he foolishly allowed himself to get into a QB controversy. He should be fired shortly. AFC. Most Surprising. Miami by a mile. No one can appreciate the turn around this team made. From 1-15 to AFC East Champs. Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano (easily the AFC Coach of the Year) deserve all the accolades. They took a team that started out 0-2, made believers out of the players, and used their talent to win 1 out of the next 14 games. A masterful job by all involved. NFC. Most Disappointing. Dallas. What a bunch of phonies. This is not a team, it is a soap opera, led by a drunk owner, a big mouthed WR, and a QB that chokes every December. Jones is the one who should carry most of the blame. The fact of the matter is that in the past 12 years, Dallas is 7 games under .500. Phillips will probably go,because Jones needs a scape goat, but as long as Jones (aka Al Davis) is around, this team will always underachieve. NFC. Surprising. Atlanta. From 4-12 to the playoffs with a rookie HC is one thing. To do it with a rookie QB is almost unheard of. Matt Ryan, a shoe in for rookie of the year, and a disgarded RB Michael Turner led the Falcons to the playoffs, where they are favored at Arizona. Mike Smith did a great coaching job during his first season, getting these players to believe in themselves. Hecertainly is the NFC Coach of the Year.

Def Jax. Even with the early Oline problems they were just not the same team. Garrard came way back to earth, the running game was not wuite the same and obv the D was not either. HUGE dissapointment IMO when you look at what was expected.

Your Ravens play in a division with 1 other good team. Miami's division was a dogfight this year between all 4 (for the most part). Baltimore was a juggernaut last year (13-3?) and still fared well this year, sans McNair. Miami was the worst team in football last year (1-15), and wins their division this year. How, HOW could you put Baltimore ahead of them? Besides the fact that you're homerism is leaking out of your skin, what logical reason can you offer? |
