NightCap's NFL Wild Card w/ 5* play!!

Well here it is....the playoffs are here. There is one game that really sticks out and that is the ATL/NYG game. I've seen this before from the Giants and I expect to see it again. Flop.....yes, the Giants seem to flop coming down from a big victory. After winning three in a row early in the season the Giants came home and lost to the Seahawks. Then, in week 9 they beat a solid New England squad, but followed it up with 4 losses in a row and questions being asked about the leadership of the players and coaching staff. Then comes the rivalry game at Dallas which they play a relatively complete game and come up with a much needed victory. What do they do following that performance? They come home and get torched by Washington behind 3 Eli manning INTs. Now, they are coming off a nice road win vs the Jets and a huge home win vs Dallas to clinch the division. After all of this, I see Justin Tuck in the news for calling the ATL offensive lineman a bunch of "dirty birds", not the dance celebration. I'm sorry but the Giants rank 29th in the NFL against the pass and and 19th against the run. The Falcon offense can definitely explode with some speed guys like Jac. Rodgers, White, Jones, and Douglass. They can also pound the line with Turner and utilize Rodgers as a chance of pace back. Let's not forget the ageless wonder that is Tony Gonzalez who will keep the NY LB's guessing all day. Atlanta is 6th against the run, which NY struggles with already, and 20th against the pass which I think will be good enough to force a few turnovers. This is more or less a play based on me liking the make up of Atl vs the make up of NY. Atlanta has obviously had their struggles this season but their only really bad loss came @ Tampa and that was early in the season when the Bucs actually had momentum and were playing solid on both sides. The Giants are 3-5 ATS at home this year and are 2-5 ATS as a favorite this season and 1-6-1 in their last 8 at home. The Falcons are 5-0 against the spread vs the Giants in NY. I understand the athletic talent that NY has at the WR position but I think the combo of Nicks and Cruz can be slowed down by the speed and athleticism on the outside. The ATL corners aren't great by any means but I think they'll use some dime blitz packages to keep Manning guessing. The weather is definitely going to be a factor and it isn't in the way most will think. Long term forecasts are for 45 degree temps and sunny skies. I'd have to think that will be relatively accurate since rain/snow isn't in the forecast. I like Atlanta here and I'm going to take the three points now and not take the chance of it coming down. I realize it could get up to four but I'm not expecting that big of a move by Sat/Sun. Here we go for WC games....

5***Atlanta Falcons -3 (-115)
1***Cincinnati Bengals +2˝ (+115)
1***Broncos/Steelers u34˝ (-110)
1***Cincinnati/Houston o38 (-110)
1***New Orleans/Detroit o58˝ (-110)
1***Atlanta Falcons (+130)

Best of luck,

NC424

actually the forecast calls for 30% chance of snow or showers on sunday. 30's or 40's

You're right about the giants falling flat on big games but it's not a consistent pattern.
If the pattern was consistent the giants would have fallen flat against the cowboys after the must win against the jets. Also, you say they fell flat after beating the pats but they played @ san fran and that game was lost by 10 yards. Hardly falling flat especially against such a good team (#2 in the NFC).
They have lost to some easy teams (3 of those divisional phily, wash x2)
But kept it extremely close or beaten very good teams (san fran, packers both coming down to last second. pats victory)
Saints were the only playoff team to blow them away.
Giants have won that last 3 meetings against atl straight up since 2006.

One can argue that atlanta has a history of falling flat away from home.

Truth is giants can be scary in the playoffs and this will be their 3rd home game in a row.

Now, I'm a giants fan so my inner voice screams go giants but I have been trying to look at this game objectively and it's a tough game to figure.
Other side atlanta is a more balanced team. They run the ball well and also have 2 great receivers in Jones and White. They can work the middle with Gonzalez and the giants pass D is not very good.

Very tough game.
I don't like to bet my giants so I'll wish you good luck with the points (probably should buy the hook 3.5) but I'm routing for the giants victory.

thanks guys....

42* was nice on the FGs but I can't go too heavy on ATL since I have multiple props out there. 3* on Bryant makes a FG from 65yds at +12000, misses a 19 yard FG off the crossbar at +5000, and Tynes kicks three kickoffs through the uprights at +250000. Here's hoping for the best!
