Opinions on the eagles this year?

What does everyone think will happen with the eagles this year.....Personally i think they could be ok and maybe scrape the playoffs....and be very good over the next 2 years...Kolb needs to back up what he did last year as a starter and prove it wasnt a fluke!

kolb will have 25 tds 15 ints. offense not a concern imo. defense is a huge question mark. could be 10-6. still have no safety or an established right corner, hopefully bradley comes back strong and they get some kind of a push from the d line.

Eagles' Sims thrives in the heat

Defensive coordinator is thrilled to have ex-Lions LB, who impressed in mini-camp.

The final day of the Eagles' first mini-camp was met with some welcome relief as coach Andy Reid cut the players loose around 15 minutes early due to sweltering conditions.

Inside the much cooler NovaCare Complex, where everyone was able to get rehydrated, the talk was still about heat.

Ernie Sims wants to bring it. The new starting weakside linebacker did it in Detroit for four years. Now there's no reason to believe he can't do it here, providing he gets a better understanding of the system. So these first three days of offseason action had Sims feeling like a rookie in more ways than one.

"The terminology is a whole lot different," Sims admitted, "but at the end of the day, I think I caught on pretty decent. I don't know everything, but I think for the most part I got a good grasp on things."

At the same time, Sims is as enthusiastic as a first-year player following a needed change of scenery. Since Sims entered the league in 2006, the Lions have won just 12 games, of which Sims only played in 10. The Eagles won 11 last season alone.

"I'm just really glad to be here, glad to be here in mini-camp with the Philadelphia Eagles," he said.

The addition of Sims before the NFL Draft and team's actions once it began made it clear that there's no change of philosophy on the horizon following the spectacular back-to-back failures at Dallas that defined last season.

"What's important for us now is that we stay true to our base defense and we lay a solid -- a very solid -- foundation that we can depend upon and fall back on during the year," defensive coordinator Sean McDermott said Saturday, "and we'll go from there."

McDermott seemed particularly thrilled to have Sims, a former first-round pick.

"Ernie's been a welcome addition," he raved. "He loves to play the game, first of all. He's our type of guy, intangibly, and you ... see it out there. He can fly. The speed factor -- there's a shark in the water out there right now, and that's Ernie Sims."

Although excellent team speed doesn't necessarily translate into the kind of fast-paced practices Reid likes to run, it did on Sunday. That's what stood out most to the coach.

"It was, again, good to get everybody back in here and have an opportunity to meet with them and, particularly, teach the new guys the offense, defense and special teams," he said. "I thought they picked it up well. Sometimes you get a massive overload and guys aren't functioning very well, but it looked like things went fairly smooth out there. Guys knew their assignments and were able to maintain a fast pace in practice.

"When guys don't know what they're doing, they have a tendency to slow down and be a mess. It went well and we have plenty of room for improvement."

Reid also reiterated his belief that Michael Vick will prove to be more than a capable backup quarterback this season -- for this offense.

"I think he looks great," Reid said. "You saw him today. ... Any time he gets into trouble, he's out of there. You see his quickness and speed back. He's throwing the ball confidently.

"... If there's a breakdown, all the movements, I'm good with, as long as your eyes are down the field when you're doing that. He's doing all the moving in that pocket and things are constricted, but he's always looking for the throw down the field. He's working the offense the way it's supposed to work."

Reid is equally enthused by what he's seen from new starting quarterback Kevin Kolb.

"He puts pressure on himself, and there's nothing wrong with that," Reid said. "You need to be able to do that at that position. He handles that very well, and he gets better. You don't see the same mistake. If he makes a mistake, it's not happening again."

Rookies and selected vets will be back for a voluntary mini-camp, or organized team activity, beginning May 19. They'll practice the 19th and 20th, break for three days and return for practices from May 24-27.

A final OTA for the entire team will be held from June 1-10. That will feature a two-day break (June 5-6).

Wouldnt worry about samuels tackling as that is never gonna happen atleast he makes ints. Safety is huge they cannot run macho harris out there again and some de pressure from anuyone else besides cole would really help.

Heading to tenn in oct for that game hopefully they are playing well
